NFL Trade Deadline “Ideas”

Cheap price to pay for the Saints if they think that he can stabilize their defense.

That being said they are leveraging the future hard. Not that there is a lot of future after Brees I suppose.

Interesting move. Could mean one of two things, Peterson isn’t available ( saints were reported interested), or the Saints were priced out of it.

The Saints have almost exactly $2M in cap space. Apple's remaining 2018 salary is about $1M. The Saints will also get a credit against the cap for the remaining salary of whoever they cut to make room for Apple, so the net cap hit will be $750k or less for this season. Apple is also under contract for only $2.5M in 2019.

Peterson's remaining 2018 cap hit would be around $6.2M this week ($5.5M after this week), and $11M next season, when the Saints have only about $21M in cap space (at the moment).

Apple is five years younger, and cheap enough to not require any major cap space maneuvering by the Saints to get the deal done. Probably a lower draft pick cost, too.

No first rounder could’ve hurt NO chances.

This year could be a change that sees the NFL trade deadline finally join the MLB/NBA in terms of intrigue. I think 3 trades is already more than most years.

Leaning towards priced out.
Eagles are desperate New England may be thrown around to raise cost.
However Peterson and Gilmore manning the corners.
