Totally. Waste of money. I'd rather spend it on a Rolex for Hightower.

How is it a waste of money? It's most likely vet minimum which means no cap hit if he doesn't make it out of training camp..

Man some of you people are too wound up. He wasn't signed to be the lead back.

Also Hightower probably isn't going to sign for vet minimum right now.

Its a waste of money because there isn't a chance in of hell of making the team. I'd rather have a spot on the 90 man roster for a draft pick.

Has nothing to do with being wound up.

Why is High signing for the vet minimum?

If it's a flat $6m and not a "can earn" incentives deal I think it is too much for a guy that is gonna be 35 and was subpar in pass pro and was clearly on the decline last year.

He sounds like a nice player but a 2nd round pick is reach. Then again, almost all of the Patriots 2nd rounders seem to be reaches.

I don't believe in "reaches." The only way anyone could say with any certainty whether a draft picks is a "reach" our not would be if they were privy to that teams draft board. The published draft rankings are generic and reflect a generalized consensus on where player's rank but has no connection to the draft boards of individual team's. Just because Mel Kiper says a player is #79 doesn't mean that is where they are on the Patriots draft board or the Steelers draft board. Teams have varying needs and different criteria for ranking players in relation to the schemes they run, and they put more or less emphasis on special teams or character concerns etc.........And while I was as shocked as anyone when they passed on LaVonte David for Tavon Wilson, I also realized they don't generally draft small linebackers and probably didn't think he fit their system and had a lower grade on him because of it. It was still a mistake imo but I get why they look at it that way. So while we as fans can call players a reach or steal based off of generalized rankings it's really only true if they are passing over higher ranked players for lesser players on their board, or if they get a guy they had in the first round in the second, such as Garrapolo or J. Collins, and we really only know that because they told us.

I'm hoping they re-sign Blount (and perhaps Foster in the coming months)

I think that Blount will resign with the Pats. I think the Pats have a number in mind and Blount is looking around to see if anyone will pay him more (so he can quit on that team and return to NE). Don't sleep on Tyler Gaffney, he's been hurt for two years, but might finally be healthy.

I would love to see the Pats grab up Keith Marshall from Georgia, he was recruited with Gurley and had as much hype, ran a 4.29 at the combine. He has good size 5'11" 200 and great speed. He split time with Gurley their freshman year, hurt his sophomore year and was behind Nick Chubb last year. He never really got a chance to show what he can do in college, but I think he will be a great NFL back.

I was thinking that too. Probably means he doesn't make it as far as training camp ...

Of course, you're 100% correct. The Patriots have real scouts sending in depth, detailed reports about prospects.

I have Mel Diaper and several other iffy sources leaking all sorts of disinformation and hype about where prospects should be drafted.

Call me when we find an OT, WR and TE.

@MikeGarafolo
OT Russell Okung expected to visit Broncos, source says. Denver looking to bolster OL after losing Ryan Harris. Clady situation fluid too.

Are the Broncos seriously considering Sanchez as their starter? They have about 6.5 million in cap space and have run out of people to cut/restructure besides Clady.

Bold Prediction:

Mark Sanchez will have way better numbers than Manning did last year as a starter... in fact, if Sanchez plays 16 games and you hand picked X number of those games to match Manning's and picked the worst games.. his stats would still be better

Ray Rice?

Do you guys seriously think he's been out of the league because of that incident and not because he was garbage the entire season before he punched someone on tape?

Absolutely
