Patterson is the replacement for our previous #4/#5 WR/PR. Given that his stats are close to those of Hogan, Patterson is a bargain. Patterson would always be active and be used as a WR.
Patterson caught 31 last year on a dreadful Team. Montcreif just signed with the Jags for $9.6MM with 26 catches last year. Sammy Watkins is making $16mm with K.C. and he had all of 36 catches last year. Neither play ST. They both missed games.
We get Patterson for $3.25mm or what the Texans paid Bademosi for ST duty.
With Patterson coming in, he is not taking anyone's place unless he has a break out year as a receiver, I feel a big trade coning on with Cooks (I doubt any nibbles on Dorsett).
Cooks was very good but can trading him do what's best for the Team? Can a combo of Patterson and Dorsett make up Cooks production with a touch of Malcom Mitchell? Jules is coming back too.
I have a couple that I will get heat for but they are just for discussion and fun:
Facts:
The Cards just brought in Bradford at QB.
He has Fitzgerald and that's it for targets at WR.
He is a deep ball QB.
We do trade with the Cards.
Option 1:
Cooks and Rowe and our fourth for CB Patrick Peterson and OT Valdheer
Option 2:
Cooks for the Cards second round pick #47 and OT Veldheer
Option 3:
Cooks and our fourth Round pick for the Cards second round pick, Veldheer and the so far flop DE/DL, Robert Nkemdiche (first rounder) and has all the talent in the world (like Kony) but perhaps less baggage. He's only 23. Flores can make him a special project and rotational guy. Good test case for Flores ability to coach. Kid just staring to see the light when he got a calf injury. BB like swapping picks in trades.
I like a good trade and these choices may be realistic. BB is in trading mode.
The Paterson trade allows us to do this.
OK....torture me.....
