People hold the annual 500ish records and no playoff wins against him but I'd argue that over the last 7 years their record has outperformed the quality of their rosters, especially considering the QBs. NFL today has too much firing/blaming coaches for not winning with teams not good enough to win.

I'm not going to act like he's in the GOAT discussion or anything, but he's an overall great coach and has done a great job over the last few years even if the internet wants to make funny memes out of it.

I think some of these firings are the owners seeing the Patriots win a playoff game with 1st year Patriots HC Mike Vrabel and they lose their sh!t.
Makes me really appreciate how lucky we have been to land Maye followed by Vrabel and Josh and the front office signings and the off-season and draft coupled with one of the easiest schedules we could land on...

This is an anomaly and not the norm . If I were a fan of a different team I would be super pissed looking at the pats..

If the owner wasn’t Mike Brown , he probably would have been fired as well.
It is wild that since 2003 the Bengals have had 2 coaches. Those coaches have gone 183-185-4 in the regular season with a postseason record of 5-9.

In that same timespan the Steelers have had 2 coaches (just counting Cowher from 2003-2006 here) and went 349-217-2 in the regular season with a postseason record of 14-17 and 2 Super Bowl wins and an AFC championship.

The Steelers are one of my least favorite teams in the league but I respect the way they run their organization. The Bengals on the other hand are a complete joke and would rather pay subpar coaches than move on and eat any dead money.

****!!! You mean i endured another non losing season around these towel waving asshats for nothing?? I thought they might run it back but i guess Goods deeds never go unrewarded

They haven't had a good QB since Big Ben and Tomlin knows how hard it is to get a good one. After Big Ben they have been a Perennial middle of the road 8 win team. That won't land you in the Top 4 of the Draft. I think Tomlin will take a year off and and look at the possibilities next Off-season. They're some "this is your last chance Head Coaches' who are going to have to win next year just to keep their jobs.

never a losing season for longer than any other coach in history; just a terrible record!
Steelers are a storied Franchise and their playoff record under Tomlin the past 10 years has been abysmal
They've been massacred too not even close games besides the Jags one in 2017

Steelers should hire Harbaugh

With R-Berger they went 5 years without a playoff win and had a total of 3 in his last TEN years.

This is just another example of a really stupid thing to do, change for purely changes sake. It's one thing to do what the Pats or Bears did, we have a plan and a legit better option then what we have now we are going to go get it. Who is out there that is better then Haurbaugh or Tomlin? I mean yeah they aren't the greatest and they have run their course on their respective teams but it's just dumb to not wait for some better candidates next hiring cycle. Ugh who knows watch the Steelers hire some unheard of LB coordinator to go one and done in the playoffs for the next 2 decades.

Probably quite a few people.
In the last 10 years, they've combined for 3 playoff wins.

But they get to the playoffs which is better then a lot of unknown new coaches. The Vrable experience is not the norm. Most coaches go 6-11 a couple years and flame out.

The pats have a lot to do with it and with many teams failing in the post season and then withering away in the coming years.

Of course he was fired. You don't actually fire a coach who has been your head coach for two decades unless he refuses to leave voluntarily. This was a firing where they allowed Tomlin to save face.
I'm surprised they didn't use the contemporary parlance of "mutually parting ways."

I think this could be about Tomlin saving face. By seeing the next few years, no decent QB and realizing his legacy of never finish8ng under .500 would be coming to an end.

While this is true it’s not applicable to my post because only 1 playoff loss in those seasons was to the patriots.

Terrible roster for another coach to take over, but the Rooneys hold onto head coaches. Wonder if Harbaugh or Stefanski would be interested
I don't understand the love for Stefanski given his track record with the Browns. Granted, ownership has totally f'd up the QB situation there.
