Book it, Allen with 3 TD's sunday, lol...
If Allen scores 3 TD's they'll have to be running plays. That guy has dropped every pass that made it to his stone fingers.

you guys really want Bennett back? He of the "if i can't have Rodgers or Brady as my QB I'm just gonna take my ball and go home""?
Bennett has been a disappointment for the packers. he has dropped way too many passes thrown right into his hands this season.

Sign Marty, put Dwayne Allen in a rocket and shoot him to the moon.
Is he quicker than Allen?
I think replacing Allen with Bennett needs more thought than people are giving it, and not purely because of them as two players in a vacuum. Right now our tackles can't stay healthy. They may be fighting these nagging injuries the rest of the year, not to mention Nate's unfortunate situation with his son. In recent history we've been using the 3rd OT as a TE in big packages, but if that's not a possibility, Allen has value as that blocking TE (allowing Gronk to be used more often as a receiving threat in those packages).
I think where Bennett's value could come (IF he clears waivers, IF he's healthy, and IF his head is screwed on straight), would be to add a receiving threat opposite Gronk, allowing us to go back to the two-TE offense while we wait for Hogan and possibly Mitchell to return.
Yes, I would bring him back. He worked well with Brady and so what if he dropped balls from Rodgers. Maybe he just needs a better QB throwing him the ball.
Perhaps someone already mentioned it, but doesn't he have to clear 30 other teams on the waiver wire first?
At $700K for the rest of the season, I don't believe the Pats would have a shot at him in that scenario. Many other teams (especially a Pittsburgh, Buffalo, KC, Oakland, etc) would spend that chump change in a heartbeat to keep him away from Brady this year.
I'd be pleasantly shocked if he made it through.
Agree on your points. If the blocking is equal and he is "healthy", and everything else is considered, Marty is a major upgrade. I'm not saying cut Allen. Maybe he becomes TE3 but the ~20 or so snaps he is getting now should go to Marty as he is light years better offensively.
My understanding is he needs to go through the waiver claim process first and the team in which claims him would be responsible for his contract. If at 4pm today he is unclaimed, he becomes a FA and can sign with any team.
My gut tells me he'll either slide to the NEP or become a FA. With the "injury", and the perception some teams have of him as a bit of a loose cannon I think its better than 50/50 he lands here.
Come on. Do you honestly believe another team would devote a roster spot to Bennett solely to keep him away from New England? Who?My guess is that, to some teams in the AFC, he is worth the 700K even to just stash on the weekly inactive list in order keep him from pairing with Gronk for the rest of the season.
I don't think the issue is "them" it is "us".

Hope they at least try, would like to see him give it a shot. I'm not as down on Allen as some, I think he's a fine 6th inline blocker (fine, not good or great) but can't deny his receiving has literally contributed nothing, in which case they might as well just play a 3rd OT instead. Unless they're setting up the greatest trick play of all time in the playoffs. Still...if an option on waivers, Marty = YES.
