Mac: "I want to be coached harder"

Watch the video and get back to us.

What difference does it make? According to you, Warner said the offense is simplified and it isn't a bad thing. I have heard others on the radio including Zolak quote this video as Warner criticizing the offense for putting Jones in a bad position. But what you are arguing doesn't fly in the face what Warner told Reiss.

No, because he's told by the coaches where to go, which he admitted in a previous interview.
Huh? Please provide the link to that. I've heard him say he needs to work on his eyes on the field. We've seen him not panning the field. I can't believe the coaches are telling him only to look at a portion of the field. That would be ridiculous.

I did.

I can 100% confirm he said this in the video.

So what is @venecol arguing then? If Warner is consistent in his comments that the simplified offense is hindering Jones, why is venecol and others claiming that Warner is putting most of the blame on Jones and saying the offense is fine?

Warner clearly states in Mike Reiss' interview with Warner that the simplified offense takes away his ability to process information. That tells me at least that the play is designed for Jones to have a limited number of reads. I admit that I haven't had a chance to watch his video, but I have a feeling the anti-Mac crowd is taking it out of context.
You're wrong again: I really liked the video and hope Warner becomes a OC down the road I was impressed with his analysis.

The numbers show that this simplified Offense worked well with the Zapp!

Again to @Ian, his take is that you are taking the comments out of context and Warner is consistent in his criticism of the simplified offense hurting Jones and his best qualities.

When I get a chance I will watch it. I just haven't had time to sit and watch. But everything I have heard outside this board is it is damning for Patricia and not Jones.

You haven't watched the video so there's no sense in having a discussion with someone that doesn't have all the facts and isn't interested in obtaining them. You continue to go hard though.

In one game. The other two games, they ran the ball and asked Zappe to stand out of the way. And the numbers showed it worked for Mac against the Vikings. You know what? Patricia is good at coaching against really bad defenses. So are most other OCs.

That's not what I said. Work harder on your reading comprehension.

They are looking at the play design and how the D is set pre-snap to come to their conclusions. I'm not about to question these guys that do this for a living, but I agree they're giving an educated opinion.
Exactly. I'm not saying they're wrong, but the only people who know where Mac is supposed to go are the players and the staff. Anything else just 3rd party perspective. Again, I just can't see Mac not looking where he's supposed to look. And on that intentional grounding play, he literally had no time:

You should like that I haven't watched the video. You cannot gaslight what Warner said to people who haven't watched the video. Again, all you are doing is avoiding what Warner said to Mike Reiss which clearly states that Patricia's simplified offense is negatively affecting Jones' ability to process information during plays. Saying that a simplified offense isn't necessarily bad doesn't supersede that.

After watching this again, he looks left, realizes he's not going to have time, then looks right and sees the defender coming and then gets rid of it before he gets buried.

There's a healthy middle ground between a) "Mac sucks" and b) it's all on the OL/offensive coordinator so we can't evaluate him.

For the record, I think Patricia has no business doing what he's doing. The OL isn't doing Mac any favors, so you can't put all of his horrible production on him. With that said, there's still tape on his game that's concerning. I don't think he's the QB in 3 years time, but given a consistent situation that Includes an O coordinator with a clue and OL you can have faith in, he's passable. Maybe next year with consistency he shuts me up and proves me wrong, otherwise I'd be looking at new solutions following next year - nothing is changing at QB next year, imo.

I am going give Trent Brown a pass on that awful attempt but he was playing sick.

You have to read why Lazar says the play was to HH. He's instantly open. Maybe Mac thought he had more time to fake look to the right instead of going straight to his intended 1st read. Who knows, but even Lazar admits the play was blown by the line.

No, he must be right because Mac looks left on the snap. He must have just thought he wouldn't have time to get it out there because Henry hadn't quite turned his head.

Even if Jones had time like an extra half a second, the entire left side of the field was blocked off to him. He had Strange immediately backed up to the left of him and a free rusher clogging any passing lane to Henry. Those three players formed a wall blocking all passing lanes to the left. Even if he had time to get it out, the best case scenario may have been a tipped ball that fell to the ground and the worst case scenario would be a pick six.

IF the Offense stays the same by seasons end I see open competition on the QB position in 2023 Jimmy G via FA.

Tough to say. You can see Mac on the overhead look left, and you can see him a little more clearly from the end zone view look left then turn his head to the right before they get to him. Obviously, it happens faster than it looks.
