LOL: NFL investigating Steelers using deflated footballs

I know people around here hate Florio, but he really gained my respect with how he reported on that steaming pile of horse ****. He was one of the few voices early on that went directly at the NFL for how ridiculous this was.
I thought he was great during all the Deflategate crap.

Nope. NFL balls are impervious to the elements and exempt from the laws of nature.

People at Wilson Sporting Goods actually believe this. Back in 2015, Boston.com interviewed a couple people from Wilson and they thought Belichick's temperature change/pressure change explanation was BS. My favorite thing from that article was a Wilson rep saying that it would take a year or two for a football's PSI to change. Feel confident that if you properly inflate a football today, play with it in rain, heat, cold, etc and store it away in the winter, you won't need to add any air or do anything else until 2020.

The company's Director of Experiential Marketing also said that nothing ever really happens to the air bladder if a football, so how could the one from the Steelers game become defective?

Just one more reason to hate that joke of a team. Can’t wait to stomp their asses down in December, again.

Hope they don’t go zone. Might even work this time.

I mean, we probably should take the meetings a bit more seriously, particularly the ones at Heinz field where Brady was a Todd Haley brain fart away from being 3-3 in the regular season last year, but it’s difficult.

Eventually, Pittsburgh will beat them and it will most likely be there, but for the meantime, I’m going to keep imagining soul crushing defeats to their arrogant, holier than thou fan base.

Todd Haley brain fart? That ones on Ben. Play call was fine, just gotta throw it away, can’t Brett Favre it in there.

Steelers accused of soft balls?

They must have inflated Ben's ba

That was back when people were confusing loss of air pressure with losing air. So they and others were basically defending the integrity of the bladder and valves by saying the balls wouldn't lose air blah blah blah.

Bill Nye was confused about the same thing.

It was irritating as hell.

All I can say to that is we are living Idiocracy.

Does anyone actually believe the Steelers were cheating in a pre season game?

I don't know. People believe the Patriots schematically deflated their footballs in order to get them about 0.015 pounds of pressure per square inch lower than they should have been. Brady is really specific about that number: 10.745, while the weather alone should have only deflated them to 10.760. Gotta admire that attention to detail. Luckily the NFL busted him with their two $5 pressure gauges, which were intentionally about a full pound of PSI different in their measurements of the same pressure...that was all part of the incredible standards they use. It's so scientifically brilliant that only people at Exponent can interpret it.

IIRC, even the almighty Neil DeGrasse Tyson got his calculations wrong due to using relative air pressure when he should have been using absolute.

I can understand not knowing the formula off the top of your head, but I can’t understand how so many people didn’t know that cold causes loss of air pressure in a sealed body. I am sure every one of us has had that day every autumn where the morning temps get down to 30 degrees and, by an amazing coincidence, the check tire pressure light goes on.

No Brady's fingerprints on it,no case.

This is something i would associate with the jest., being caught in PreSeason (where the games don't count)trying to flaunt the rules.

Mike Tomlin...

I'll be truly interested in this story when it gains national traction, but the last time they won the Super Bowl, Bin Laden was a live and well, watching porn in Pakistan. Also, they're not the Pats. Thus, non story.

According to an NFL spokesman, "nothing could ever be worser what the Patriots did ever, ever, ever"....

Nothing to see here folks, everybody move along....

They have been practicing what they call the "Dollar defense"

Rush 4 and drop 7 DBs into coverage. Sort of Rex Ryan style. My guess is this scheme is specifically for NE.

NDT: like Bill Nye the (non-)Science Guy, another useful Tool.
