Re: Updated: 3/26/10

DaytonDailyNews: Dayton, Ohio, news and information
Former Browns head coach and current Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel was in town last Monday to work the player out. And the following day New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick paid Troup a visit.
Put a PW and C next to Torrel Troup.

Re: Updated: 3/29/10

I don't have those with RI as the third contact emboldened.

Re: Updated: 3/29/10

I had Thomas as a dual-purpose DL for DE & NT. I have a hypothesis I'll be addressing in a mock I'm working on...

You think we could see us playing a few Jumbo fronts? Thomas or whoever and Vince sharing DE duties? A la the Ravens?

Re: Updated: 3/29/10

Looking forward to seeing what you think, Box. It's confusing the hell out of me, my only guess is that Brace is already being internally classfied as a bust.

Most of the DTs we are bringing in are quite short, meaning that they suit NT far more than DE. So I'm not sure what the plan is.

This DT activity combined with relatively low 4/5 tech interest gives me the strong feeling that they want to mix in quite a few 40 looks. However, their entire defensive personell group is based around the 34. Even last draft, they took a clear 34 SS, a backup nose, and what seems to be a Mike. I'm going through scenarios in my head that would make sense, and the only thing would be a very deep rotation with a very stout 2-gap 43. Which makes no sense given the current trend of the spread being aided by Bill Polian trying to turn the NFL into a skeleton drill.

They very well could have given up on Brace, but judging from what I saw last season, he looks like he can play the position with more coaching and time in the gym. Headscratcher for sure.

I have been thinking the same thing recently.. It would be very interesting to see how it pans out if they trade down and the likes of Cody etc are there..

Wilfork Cody Warren .. Whoa Mamma.. no more running against us..

Damned snarky Brits and their mind control games - get out of my head! :enranged:

Dan Persa in line to be Northwestern’s new quarterback - chicagotribune.com
Test case: Defensive end Corey Wootton and Kafka were among eight former NU players who lifted, ran and performed drills for scouts and coaches from 29 NFL teams. (The Patriots worked out Wootton and cornerback Sherrick McManis on their own.)

Wootton, projected as a second- or third-round pick, called it a "nerve-racking day" and said he expected to run faster than his 4.93 and 4.95 in the 40-yard dash. He had to redo his first sprint after a scout said he left the line too quickly.

Coaches love Wootton's size (6-foot-6, 270 pounds) and intangibles but want more proof he has fully recovered from knee surgery after a four-sack season.

"We worked him out for 40 minutes, and he never complained about one drill," said Kris Kocurek, the Lions' defensive line coach. "He showed he can move around a little bit. He helped himself.

"As far as character goes, that's a big deal in the process. Corey's a good kid, and everybody knows that."

Wootton, who ran without a knee brace, said some teams are looking at him as a rush linebacker.

Re: Updated: 3/26/10

I'm going to project Wootton to OLB seeing his numbers.

Tebow works out for Bills : Buffalo Bills : The Buffalo News
Other teams on Tebow's visit schedule include the New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks.
I'm not sure if this indicates Tebow will be visiting Gillette, or if this is "information" is linked to those teams who expressed a desire for private workouts after his Pro-Day.
