Player Signing Lawrence Guy officially re-signs

we are at 80 or so players under contract. Do we have room to use all our draft picks?
We could very well cut 5-10 guys after the draft, but keep them now until we know what the haul is.

Good to have him back. His addition takes the D-line from dire need to a need. If you think his addition is going to eliminate going front 7 if a QB isn't available you haven't noticed how Bill has so many DB's early when it really wasn't needed. With that being said, he drafts a CB with the #15 pick.

It looks like BB is setting up a perfect storm by filling most of the "Pats Deficiencies" with FA signings and brining back known players, with the end game of trading down for a QB...

Do not see BB using all 10 draft picks in 2021...

If the price is too rich or the QB they want is not available it's a distinct possibility.

Same issues as cam. No pocket awareness, holds the ball too long, takes unnecessary sacks and throws into double coverages resulting in picks. If his first read isn't there, he takes off and runs when his 2nd read is wide open.

Guy is a solid DT, who has played well in the system. You can't have too many new parts, so it's good that BB is bringing in people who know the system. Even Godshaux, knows the system. The only one who has to come up to speed is Judon. BB wanted Judon back when he was coming out in the draft, I think he has a specific role picked out for him.

BB has done an amazing job in FA, nobody could have expected all the signings, but he has basically only lost Thuney in FA, and retained everyone else (that counts) and even brought back Van Noy and Karras for inside information on Miami's defense and offense.

I'm not sold on any of the top QBs not named Lawrence, much rather pick up a star at 15 at WR, CB, DL. I think Lance just has way to many questions to trade up and get him. I would rather the Pats take Mills in the late second early third.

I don't even follow the draft and I've seen multiple articles debunking the idea that he doesn't go through his reads.

So you’ve never watched him play.

I heard that next year's draft doesn't have any blue chip QBs in it and is one of the reasons for the push on QBs this year.

Not arguing. Just saying what I heard.

And there have been a couple of posts that said that next year's haul is better.

Most of the time, there seem to be 3-5 highly rated QB's. One of them becomes a solid starter/star, one of them is just OK, and one of them becomes a career backup. The only draft class I can think of that delivered more than two perennial all stars was 1983, with Marino, Elway, and Kelly. Most year's there's either zero or one.

And it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world either. The highest draft pick they've ever had (other than 6 where they picked Richard Seymour) was 7 when they traded out of the first round the year before with San Fran. SF was BAD and they ended up with a really high pick. If the guy they like isn't within reach this year, getting an extra first next year by trading down potentially puts you in even better position to move around next year. Ultimately, best case is they get their guy for the next ten years in THIS draft, but they'll be flexible.

2004. Big Ben, Eli, and Rivers are 3 border line HOFers, depending on your criteria, but to your point it's very rare and likely that at least one of the big 4 this year is going to be a horrible bust probably 2. I wouldn't mortgage the farm for any of them. A small trade up to 9 if one you LOVE falls sure but anything more then that is too big a gamble for me.

Good catch.
I'd trade up if it was 50% shot at Ben or Rivers quality. I don't think anyone here sees a 50% shot at Eli quality as worth the four or five high picks it'll take to get into the top 5. Eli quality QB's @ 100% can be had in free agency.

Then what do you do about the gaping hemorrhaging hole at QB? The farm is worth mortgaging if the money you get gives you the equipment to run it. Not mortgaging a barren farm leaves you with a worthless asset.

If we trade up for a qb, it should be for Lance. If not, stay at 15 and take Mac or Mills in 2nd round.
