Eh, he’s got the Calvin Johnson/Anthony Davis syndrome were there is always some ailment.
Meaning he was hurt last year, right?

Jones' receiving yards the previous SIX seasons:

1593
1871
1409
1444
1677
1394

Then he was hurt last year so only managed 771, which of course would have been tops on the Pats.

Look, I get how it works, if the Pats had signed him everyone here would be doing cartwheels, but they didn't, so we're making up reasons why we're SO glad we dodged the bullet of the supermodel ****ing us. But come on.

Pats weren’t forced into releasing Brown, it was Bob’s choice. They could’ve kept him until the NFL decided on whether or not to suspended him.
He was getting suspended anyway. They let him go in the hopes of recouping some money, which they did in the middle of last season.

If the Pats signed him it means there would be some value there, they traded Randy Moss for a song.

They need to extend Gilmore and possibly JC Jackson. If they could have gotten Julio for a reasonable return then fine, but don’t bend over and take it in the rear to make it happen. There’s also the distinct possibility Jones chose Tennessee over NE.

Still a crappy WR core. I'm sorry....not crappy more like Mediocre. With a mediocre QB....fun times though
I agree that we have a mediocre WR group. However, our set of receivers is not so mediocre when we extend the analysis to include our top 6 receivers: 3 WR's, 2 TE's and a RB.

Disappointed we didn't get Julio but i'm now curious to see how they spend the rest of their cap space. I would love to see an extension for Gillmore before the season and potential extensions for Brown and/or Jackson during the year if they perform early.

Even with my gripe, I’d still want him on the team because of his talent.

Disappointed that Jones didn't come here. I feel if BB/Kraft really wanted him badly enough, they would have made it happen. Question now is, do the Pats have/need a #1 WR on the roster? They have won Super Bowls without what would be thought of as a true #1 WR. It would be funny, but not believable, if Harry took off his horn rimmed Clark Kent glasses and showed that he really is the Superman BB thought he was. Meanwhile, drafting a #1 caliber WR still remains as BB's Kryptonite.

It would be funny because Harry has shown many times he does not have the desire to be any good in the NFL.

So the Falcons GM is outted as lying about having a 1st round offer. Why would one lie about something like this, it's not smart long term behavior.

i know jones said he wanted to play with cam. maybe this is a sign, from bb, cam's not a shoe in.

Julio Jones: “I just want to win”.

Agrees to go to a team that hasn’t won anything

Yes that is exactly how it would have worked and correctly so.

As others have mentioned, this was not about the draft picks. it was about the money and cap space.

None of us know the plans for resigning existing players (many already mentioned) or the plan for 2022/2023 cap years. It's fair to trust Bill's evaluation/decision on this type of planning. His history is good. It's not like when he's picking a college receiver or drafting in the second round.

And it’s not a coincidence that they let Russini be the first to report the actual trade to salvage her reputation after she attached her name to the Falcons’ blatant falsehoods. She’ll absolutely trade one small lie for one big story again.

As others have speculated is more accurate. All we know is that the Pats didn't make the deal.

I guess what you're saying is that the correctness of a deal is only determined by whether or not Belichick made it. While he's of course owed respect for the Pats' success, he obviously can make mistakes, as I'm sure he'd be the first to say. There's also a difference between saying, "hmmm, I would have liked Julio Jones for a 2nd round draft pick, too bad, but I'll defer to Bill" and some of the whiplash here of...eh, he's damaged goods, WR isn't really a position of need, etc.

Why? To try and drum up better offers.

We gave up a 2nd for Sanu last year... Absolutely would have given up a 2 & 4 for Julio Jones...

Which Julio Jones? The 2020 version? No, thank you.

If Cam is the starter giving Him Julio Jones is like giving a subscription to Porn hub to a devote Monk.
