Judon apparently doesn't think he's going to get paid.

Dugger is a top 10 NFL sa
Normally I would agree, but if the team is going to re-sign Dugger & Tavai to big-money extensions, then Judon should be given some sort of guarantee for this season as a sign of good faith...
Dugger is a top 10 NFL safety, he's not too long removed off an all pro caliber season in 2022.. so he was paid according to the market.. Tavai his deal was decent.. I wouldn't call it big money! I agree judon should get a short term contract increase.. I don't know what number he's looking for.. but wolf has proven he will pay guys.. so either Judon's camp is being unreasonable or he's trying to play leverage games..

Agreed. Rham is the guu
The reason that the team had so much cap room is because a huge number of players contracts were scheduled to expire. Probably to provide a circuit breaker on the Mac rebuild. This gave the team flexibility on who to keep and who to let go. Wolf really had no choice but to keep the players he had and liked to avoid creating more holes in the roster. Only time will tell which contracts are good and which contracts are bad. Lets hope he chose the right players to retain.

Agreed here. Rham is the guy if you ask me who made out the best.. by age 29,30 RBs are usually done.. look at zeke.. he's what 28? 29? He had some flashes last season but was nothing like the all pro he was. Rham knows this was his only opportunity to get paid. He made out. Godchaux is in between a rock in hard place.. many believe he didn't deserve the extension he got.. Bill calling him one of the best D lineman in the league. He's basically 30, playing a position that isn't valued anymore.. I'd like for all the players to get extended.. but I know that's not realistic..

Haven't read the entire thread, but didn't Judon get a buttt load of money up front?
Maybe showing my ass here, but didn't he already get paid?

Judon is no different than any other player.
he signed an at the time big contract that paid him at the top end of his positional market
his deal is coming to an end, he is in his 30's and he is looking for another deal.
last year, Pats gave him a salary bump by guaranteeing about $12m on his deal.
they could do so again this season, but paying him guaranteed money too many years out as he ages is not a smart deal imo

Great Pass Rushers can play up to 35 if healthy: he'll be 32 next month. A two or three year extension won't cripple our cap also if he has a healthy 2024 and the Defense plays up to par, an extension is a certainty I love Judon.

seeing as Judon missed most of last season, is it prudent to wait and see that he is back to his former self?
also, if the D is going to be an edge setting D, and Judon is called on to set the edge, as well as get after the QB, can he set the edge into his mid 30's?
if he is a 1 trick pony type player, QB pressure, surely there is a market for that type of player. but certainly not at the top of market. good offenses pick on edge rushers only with runs plays at his open spot on the field, and pick them apart with short passes into those same open spots of the field.

I followed all those teams very closely -- I was at the awful 1978 playoff game when Fairbanks announced he was leaving for Colorado.

IMO, Ray Clayborn was a better CB for the Pats than Haynes was.
thanks for adding that. I couldn't remember who the other corner was. Shame on me!!!! Clayborn was awesome!

Cashing 13 checks while on IR in '23 and then expecting a big raise is quite ambitious.

Right, so nobody has ever cashed checks for season ending injuries? They probably should of just given Brady and Gronks checks to Pollard instead I guess.

I don't think the issue is that he cashed checks while injured. more so, come back and perform at the same level as when you left, and then lets talk.

I want him and Schuster traded Tee Higgens. Judon is a great player, but I dont see him standing up during the next deal. Cinci needs a edge and Schuster gets a top qb throwing him the ball. Worse case we get a comp third in 2026 if Higgins dont re-sign.

Judon wants a new deal, and JuJu is washed at $10m per.
you think any team trades for JuJu rather than wait for him to be released?

was it in 2023?

if so, call in Wilfork to be leader.
Wilfork can’t play any longer. Judon can.

But I’m not in favor of giving him a big contract either. I’d like to see a trade and a decent return if possible

if reports are true, the Pats have offered and Judon has rejected. per report, they are not close.
at least they are talking

Judon is going get his $$$$$ he makes other players better Uche - Barmore and Wise all played better with a healthy Judon. Looking forward to see a year two Keion White.

I doubt it. The run on tackles in the first round cleaned out the best prospects. I would have loved to see them take one of the top 2 centers there.
The extra cap space for the league took away the Pats advantage. Teams were now all able to sign their key players and there wasn't much left for the Pats. It was bad timing.

Which shows the importance of Drafting an developing your own those years of sucking in the Draft came back to haunt us in FA 2024.

This is a problem I have with some of the money gripes by players and fans. Back when Revis signed here he got way overpaid and most of it was up front. In the 2nd year everyone was complaining that he was underpaid.
