It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Probably not but I'm sure he wanted the rest of the summer to try and I'm even more sure he'd rather try and find a new team after cutdown than next February after a surgery.
I want to celebrate, but I'm reminded of my first season posting on Patsfans (2010) when Eric Alexander got cut. I celebrated that and someone here politely reminded me that a guy lost his job. I think that was good for me to hear.
Williams sucks and the team is better off without him. But it's kind of a **** move to get this giddy about someone's injury, especially on your own team.
You think he sustained a season ending injury on purpose? If he moves on IR does he get the full year salary?
Prolly decided he wouldn't get any contract elsewhere, so took up IR?
I think if you're a strict zone team he could be useful as well as ST but I'm just glad he's not taking up a spot. Nothing gets me more heated than picks with no plan or that wasted away on the bench. Trade up, back, into next year, for another players, package it. Just hate seeing top 60 guys sit. He’s terrible. You don’t need to sugar coat it. His best chance of sticking in the league is to make himself useful on coverage units… preferably somewhere else.
Why would the team “work out” him getting injured and needing to go on IR? You are implying rather than cutting him they are putting him in IR so that they are allowed to pay him not to play and use up critical cap money? For what reason?I think we're super deep at corner, though the starters aren't special.
Mills
Mitchell
Jones
Jones
Butler
Wade
Bryant
All ahead on the depth chart, not to mention Bethel.
This is a good possibility. He might have been a cut today and the team worked this out for him.

They cannot be in the business of detracting from the capped money they spend on the team by paying someone who doesn’t deserve to be paid who couldn’t make the team. They have never done it before why would they start with a draft disappointment?
Not like that.. prolly exaggerating a medium scale injury. Don't know how he suddenly picked season ending injury..You think he sustained a season ending injury on purpose?
They HAVE TO work out an injury settlement when they are ready to return unless they keep them. What's common is a player getting cut is injured, and the team needs to work out an injury settlement.
This can be done from IR once the degree of the injury is determined.
So this gives the player some time to determine the extent of the injury and the option to do what's best for his career. They couldn't cut him anyway.
If Williams were an important starter or piece to the team, I doubt he would be on IR this AM.
BTW they have always worked out injury settlements with IR players.
What in the world tells you the injury isn’t season ending when it is reported as season ending, and how are you determining that he is faking it? Are you his doctor? JesusIf he moves on IR does he get the full year salary?

He sucks but corner becomes an even bigger need now.
Doing themselves a solid too by not having to face the embarrassment of cutting a 2nd rounder before the end of his contract. For the record, I am not celebrating. He was gone anyway.
I just think the team is doing him a solid, rather than it being a real season ending injury.
At the time i think the league trend was for for larger receivers and the pick was seen as a way of countering that. Also Josh Gordon the quitter?????This was Bill’s most unnecessary or idiotic draft pick of his career. Just a horrible use of resources.
When drafted this was the CB group:
Gilmore
McCourty
Jones
JC Jackson who showed promise in 2018.
WR and TE’s
Edelman
Worn down Demariyus Thomas (eventually traded)
The quitter Josh Gordon (eventually cut)
Phillip Dorset
Injury prone journeyman Bruce Ellington (eventually cut)
Maurice Harris (eventually cut)
N’Keal Harry
TE
Matt LaCosse
Ryan Izzo
Teams have wanted larger CB’s for a long time, so that’s nothing new. The Pats WR’s were struggling in 2018 and McDaniels had said after the Super Bowl victory that they realized after the loss to Pittsburgh that they couldn’t throw the ball like they wanted to. They were built to run, so they focused on that which helped turn things around. The WR draft class was hyped up as one of the best in a long time and the Pats were in dire need for help.At the time i think the league trend was for for larger receivers and the pick was seen as a way of countering that.
Lol. Yeah he quit on them in 2018 when they were making their playoff push, you don’t remember? He walked away from the team for “mental health”, but it turned out he was using again. Also Josh Gordon the quitter?????
