Sam Darnold (Preseason) 29-45 (64%) 244 yds, 5.2 ypa 2 TD, 1 INT 83.9 rating.

Against backups. The Samchise! He's proven!

It's so JETE that they traded Bridgewater, and his 105 rating for the preseason, a QB who could actually win them games.

It was nice of McCown to tank and make sure they had no choice but to give Darnold the job.

I really see darnold as having a rough rookie Season. Lots of lessons to learn.

The jets defense on the other hand is sneakily looking pretty good.

The front looked great against the run. Secondary "should" be pretty good considering they were decent last season, and now the safties aren't rookies and we've added Johnson as CB1 pushing the others down a spot.

Pass rush is a real concern though. NONE during the preseason. Yet I'm hopeful Bowles lives up to his rep as a great defensive guy. With a solid run front n secondary, hopefully he schemes some good pressure.

In the preseason I saw the jets defense line up with a single high safety and then bring the other safety down into the box for a perfect blitz opportunity. However, they backed him out before the snap.

It looks to me like the jets are going to incorporate secondary blitzing this year, which should give them a chance to get off the field on third down.

McCown tanked?
He publicly announced his intention to be the backup, which is the same thing.

How does it feel now that your team has traded away its best hope at the quarterback position? As I've previously noted, McClown knows this is his last NFL season and wants to finish with his brains intact, which is why he endorsed Young Blockhead (a/k/a Dam Darnit) for the starting job behind that lousy offensive line.

Here is Darnit's new theme song:

On Sunday at 12:59pm, darnold’s theme song will be “point of no return” by Kansas!

Yup, that's the hope. I'm sure they were keeping things vanilla as most do in the preseason. Really would've been nice landing an actual edge rusher though (Mack or Fowler) to get pressure w/o blitzing.

Having Claiborne, who excels in tight man coverage now as CB2, paired up with Johnson at CB1, who's known for his man coverage, definitely allows for some safety or CB3 blitzes.

Let's see if Bowles can live up to his rep.

Or Monday Night.

Kid gets primetime for his debut.

That would last about five minutes. Nobody does that on a regular basis -- it's an invitation to get toasted by any quarterback who can read defenses.

Very true, but the fact remains, that is what the jets showed in preseason a lot of single high safety defense.

Shouldn't be too hard to live up to that rep then. Already ahead of the game.

I find it amazing Bowles won 5 games last year with a roster worse than cleveland’s!

That's why I haven't given up on him. Many Jet fans have already started dreaming of replacements come 2019, but I'm still somewhat confident in the guy.

"Somewhat" confident is not confident. Is that similar to somewhat tanking last year?

Ha you're reaching man.

Correct "somewhat confident" is not exactly "confident".

Hence the "somewhat".

So less than normally confident, but still... somewhat.

You are somewhat nuts...but the Jete fanbase has always been somewhat whacked out.

Or have the blitz picked up and get torched.
