Tanking would be a stupid move. That team needs to build a winning culture and a rookie quarterback isn't going to do it for them. Even if they do land a promising young QB, they don't have the coaching to develop him properly.

Harris leaving sucks. Easily my favorite Jet in recent history. Slightly above Mangold. "Lunch pail" no drama/flash football player. Great leader, never in trouble, soft spoken, but a hitting machine on the field.

I hear he was "called back into the office", after being released. Hopefully they're gonna work something out. I mean yeah he's 33 and slower, but he's still damn good. Would've liked him to retire a Jet. Gradually reducing playing time as he helped school some youngin's.

Decker? Lol, screw him. He held out last camp for that POS Fitzpatrick. Don't get me wrong he's a good/great WR (when healthy) and I was fine with him staying. I thought he'd help Hackenberg develop. But no sleep lost because he's leaving. I'm actually more pissed his wife is leaving.

Oh, na I gave up my tickets 3 years ago now. No time/money for 'em lately while starting a business. Damn things were costing me 11k a year w/o tailgating costs factored in. And then for 1pm games, I'd be up packing the Jet Mobile at 4am and not getting back home 'til after 6pm.

So now it's just random games until I get the time and money to reinvest.

Just as well. If I had been shelling out 11k+ and dedicating 14 hour Sundays to see ****zpatrick these last years, I woulda been pretty damn pissed.

May look back into buying later this year when I'm sure there will be plenty available for good deals.

I was thinking about the Jets recent roster moves and how they did something very similar recently. Idzik came in to clean up the mess that Tannenbaum had made. He cut loose veterans like Santonio Holmes, Mark Sanchez and Bart Scott. The plan was to stay quiet in free agency for a couple years, clean up the salary cap situation and then make a splash in free agency in year 3. The problem was that Idzik was not good at drafting, Rex's coaching style had run it's course and they were the Jets.

Instead of Idzik getting a chance to spend money in free agency, Maccagnan came in as his replacement and did it. Those moves didn't lead to any playoff appearances, so now Maccagnan is doing what his predecessor did and jettisoning veteran players. Maybe the Jets realize it's not good to fire their GMs every 2 years, but if they are trying to lose more than usual this year, the team's record under Maccagnan is going to be terrible.

Not to mention, this tanking effort may not yield the anticipated results. What if Sam Darnold decides to stay in school one more year or he pulls an Elway/Eli Manning and refuses to sign with the Jets? All this work could be for nothing. Again.

Bowles and Maccagnan won't survive this. Tanking for the #1 pick sounds good until the team starts getting blown out in embarrassing fashion 40-3 week after week by good teams and 30-10 by average teams. Players either have a tough time with losing or they don't. If they don't, that's worse.

Somewhere around the bye week, players will check out. Somewhere around Thanksgiving a horrible loss will lead to an interim coach. I bet Maccagnan gets fired as soon as the season ends. Do you really need to keep him around to pick Darnold?

And with no o-line and holes all over the roster. Darnold will be lucky not to get killed as a rookie.

Yeah, there was an article on the BBC that speculated that perhaps the problem in U.S.-U.K. relations was that there isn't a U.S. Ambassador to London, and that, with one in place, he could persuade Washington to behave a bit more sensitively. It may be useful to take a few pre-emptive pain killers for anyone in the same stadium as Hackenberg when he's throwing footballs:
