Is this the best sports city in the world or what

Aren't they like the buffalo bills of the mls lol? I'm going to attempt to watch one of these games. The ties kill me though.

Ha, yes...unfortunately. They had 3 brutal losses in the MLS cup back to back to back.

Get off it. You can praise Red Sox fans without dissing Pats fans. I've never seen a Gillette crowd thin out during a championship game. And apparently you didn't tune in during the ALCS when those petulant dweebs loudly booed Drew for striking out and loudly booed Morales for putting runners on base. Of course they're the "best crowds" when things are going splendidly, just like any other stadium on the planet.

Sorry if that hit a nerve. It hits a nerve with me too. Hopefully it will change someday.

It would be great to have some of THAT fan involvement in Gillette.

BTW, I'm all FOR booing when warranted - - it happens when the fans actually care - - it beats apathy. As any doctor will tell you, pain means you are ALIVE. Numbness = Death.

MLB baseball is slipping into anachronism except for traditional enclaves like Boston, St. Louis and Chicago.

2013 World Series average viewership per game: 14.3 million.

2013 SNF Broncos @ Colts: 26 million.
2013 SNF Green Bay @ Minnesota (lol): 17 million

It's amazing how much the gap has widened in the 21st century. Hell, even the NBA has passed the MLB in ratings.

While I'm happy for Boston and the fans, it will be interesting to see how much the MLB continues to fall. Even with a powerhouse market like Boston in the world series, this was still one of the 3-4 lowest rated world series ever.

The television gap will only continue to widen in the future. The NFL has perfected the viewing experience.

Not only that, baseball took the early lead in Rotiserrie - - but fantasy Football has lapped it many times over ever since.

If you're not a Red Sox fan you have no right to "be" a Patriots fan if you live in the US. Fandom is by birthright, not by randomly "picking" some team because you play them on Madden or because the 2007 Patriots put up "crazy fantasy numbers" (quote from Jonathan Kraft). I have a feeling that these same people that aren't Red Sox fans "chose" the Patriots sometime in the last 12 years and didn't sit through the 2-14s, 1-15s, Victor Kiam, Lisa Olsen, etc....
So, nut up, and be a fan of the team to which you are geographically linked by birth or where you live most of your life. Born in Yonkers, NY and moved here when you were 2, then fine. But if you moved here to go to college then you're nothing but a CAHPETBAGGAH and go back to from whence you came....
Go ahead, cheer your fantasy football team - you're not a real Pats fan unless you bleed black and gold, green and white, and red and blue.....

Here in Bufalo they are speaking about giving a guy I never heard of (Moulson) a $5 million contract. Tickets to Sabres games cost an average of $65. The arena is sold out regularly. There are 50 games or more a year there. The NHL has almost no television presence at all, yet this Moulson guy is about to hit a payday that would be the envy of most New England Patriots.

This is baseball's future. $40 a ticket for 85 games a year, only 25 players on the team.

Kids may long to be in the NBA or NFL, but the NFL doesn't pay enough and the NBA doesn't have enough spots. This is why some of the smart kids are going to continue to play baseball and hockey.

I was at Fenway last night. It was electric, a great, great night for Boston sports fans.

I've had the same experience at big wins by the Patriots, Bruins and Celtics. Not sure why this has to turn into a pissing match about whose fans are better or which sport will stand the test of time. Today, I am too happy to care about any of that. So are my parents, my wife and kids, and so many of my friends who have lived and died with the all of the Boston teams for a very long time.

We've had a great run here over the last eleven years. I tell my sons (ages 26 and 23) all the time that this is not how things usually happen. It's important to celebrate the good times because you truly never now when it will happen again.

The Patriots are the only Boston team I like (I'm from a city with no pro sports teams & my favs are all spread out) however I hope the Red Sox's win can motivate & inspire the Pats to get going and win themselves another SuperBowl

Little did I know as a kid, that being a fan of the Yankees (NEW YORK) and Patriots (BOSTON/NEW ENGLAND) would seem a little odd

Im a pats fan first and foremost - i used to like the yankees but it was too weird liking a boston team in football and a new york team in baseball. I just ended up switching to the sox.

Brady is, in a meaningful way, responsible for the Boston sports success since 2001.

TB12 helped Kraft explode the Patriots brand and when all the other owners soon saw the huge dough rolling into Foxboro, dough that could be theirs, well, the other owners woke up and started fighting for their share with real determination. The other three sports teams fought to stay relevant - they had to or be buried by the Pats. Viola: sharp, motivated ownership is more likely to lead to success. But Brady's persistent winning started the whole thing and has helped keep it going.

And who whoulda thunk back in 03, 04 that fast forward 10 years and the Patriots would have lost their last two super bowls and the Red Sox would outperform the Patriots when the money is on the line, and would be 3-0 in World Series.

Simply put, John Henry and his team have put together a formula for post season success whilst Kraft and his team have constructed teams that win 12-14 games consistently, but ultimately fail when the big boys come out to play....

Kudos to Farrell, Cherington, Henry, Lucky Lucchino, and Werner.

Guess not everyone thinks highly of us.

Headline edited ... trust me they don't like us.

100% nott work-friendly reading. Those sensitive to bad language should not click.

That's pretty funny. He evidently loves Boston, and has no other way to say what he is trying to say in that article.

It's an NSFW rant saying "I hate you because you are so great!!!"

(Easy for for me to recognize - - I get that all the time for the very same reasons here, written in exactly the same prose. )

Great article! I caught a foul ball in Game 2 and looked around and shouted out, "Any kids around?"

Found a 10-year-old in the row behind me a few seats down and gave him the ball, but almost everyone around me was too old to even have kids anymore!

This makes me very sad, because every kid should play baseball. It builds character like no other sport. You can't hide in baseball. It's you and the ball and everyone's watching.

my nieces, nephews & daughter are trying to keep it going with the 10 and under crowd, but they're all girls

You crap all over the Red Sox and their fans. Let it go, for one thread.

Excuse me, Hieronymus, but I was responding specifically to another's post that in no way involved you. Now, kindly butt out.

You came in *****ing. It's the same crap every thread that brings up anything Red Sox. We get it. You don't like the Red Sox. That's fine, but they won the freakin' World Series, which is something beyond a normal "This guy sucks" sort of thread, and this thread isn't even just about the Red Sox. Give it a rest for one thread. You're crapping on them in the Papi v. Brady thread. Let that be enough for you.

You're taking my posts in both instances WILDLY out of context. Is this your tender time of the month or something? Stop crapping on moi and whoever else happens to tweak whatever hair has crossed your ass. Let that be enough for YOU, bubba. Sheesh, one would think you'd be in a much better mood considering you're such a fan of the local nine.

That was long time for me to wait to see another World Series title won in Fenway.

When I saw it happen in 1918 the Green Monster was a baby.

I wasn't even a zygote yet...
