Another "blown" call by the umps tonight on that 3-2 pitch to Posada which was clearly a strike. Leads to 6 runs for the Yanks. It is obvious that MLB is doing everything it can to get the yanks into the world series. they couldn't do it to the phillies because the dodgers were awful. but this clearly brings ratings to MLB and bud selig is all about money and not integrity.

The Angles are a joke and it tells you how bad we sucked this year.

The umpiring in the ALCS has been brutal towards both teams, the worst I can ever remember. These guys get the assignments not based on merit, that's for sure. That non call the other night when both Yankee base runners were clearly off the bag was beyond brutal; Ray Charles could have gotten that one right. How in the name of God do you blow that call?

We as Red Sox fans focus more on the calls the Yankees get because, well, they are the Yankees and we all hate the MFY.

As long as the Yankees have CC, they'll get to the World Series, they don't need help from the umpires.

Their bullpen has not be so hot lately other than Rivera, the man is a God, by far the greatest closer of all time.

The assclown we have here could learn a lot from a guy like Mo, a professional through and through, not some overstuffed hot dog out there on the mound, he's like a paid hit man, just lights out and lethal..............

notice how none of the new york papers talk about the blown 3-2 call on Posada. They all talk about how the yankees managed to score 6 runs off Lackey but conveniently forget that they got some help to get there.

So when the ump wrongly called Swisher out, when he scored on a would be sac fly in Game 4, that was what exactly? A call made to help the Yankees get to the World Series? The umpiring throughout the playoffs has been horrible. Melky was safe at first earlier in the game, but the ump called him out. They've been blowing close plays, and not so close plays, all playoffs long.

Swisher was picked off at second and that was missed, so the tag up play was probably a make up call.

The umpiring has been hideous all post season.

How in the HELL are you a Yankees and a Pats fan? Living in Boston as well. Where did you go wrong?

Shockingly enough, there's real evidence that MLB has responded to the outcry. Its unofficial as of now but a widely accepted rumor says only the more experienced umps will work the series.

Still, they should steal the NFL's good idea of rewarding the officials with the best record of performance throughout the season, except for 1 ump. He should be able to buy his way into the playoffs just like the way the Yankees buy their way in each year They could stick him out in Right field or something.

It very well may have been, but that's not the point. The OP is saying that the umps are trying to help the Yankees get to the World Series, by giving them calls. If that were true, then the umps would never have made a wrong call to hurt the Yankees. They would have called Swisher safe in that situation. The two calls in that sequence were both wrong. Swisher was out at second, and he didn't leave early when tagging up at third. In each instance, the umps made the wrong call, which helped & hurt both teams. So in the end, niether call was favorable to either team. I had no issue with the end result personally. What's right is right.

The umpiring has been atrocious and the Yankees seem to have gained more than they have lost, but it is silly to think this is the result of any sort of MLB conspiracy to get NY into the World Series.

I agree. The standard of umpiring across the entire playoff series has been nothing short of embarrassing and ridiculous.

The Yankees seem to be benefiting from the large majority of these dubious decisions from what I have seen thus far.

It's true and a good idea, just take your best and most experienced umpires, put them together, and form a super umpire crew. Finally they come up with a good idea instead of just rotating in the normal okay umpires, instead of sticking with your best ones for the playoffs.
