Over the weekend, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski found himself on the fan side of sports when his horse, also named “Gronk” was a participant in the 150th running of the Belmont Stakes on Long Island New York.

Gronk the horse, who opened the race with rather “appropriate” 69-1 odds of winning, stunned both his owner and those watching when he placed second after a big final push after falling to last place at the start.

Gronks memorable reaction to the comeback was caught by NBC cameras.

Unfortunately Gronk’s cinderella story was overshadowed by the victorious horse Justify, who became the second horse to win the Thoroughbred Triple Crown in four years.

On Instagram Tuesday, A photo of the two Gronk’s was shared on social media with a positive outlook into the future for the new best friends.

Even in defeat, the Gronkowski’s still came out nice winners.
