Pretty simple - if you could corner either Patricia or McDaniels and promise them the HC job of what is currently the most prestigious franchise in the NFL - who would you pick and why?

Personally, I have changed my tune and am leaning towards hoping we keep Matty P the most. I think the transition from Belichick to him would be the smoothest, Josh's HC experience in Denver notwithstanding.

Matty P.

McDaniels has had a HC opportunity and didn't turn any heads.. he's also been inept as an offensive coordinator these last couple weeks with the injuries

The last time I remember having such little confidence in the offense was 2006

Patricia is more like BB than any other coordinator we've ever had. I think he's also smart and realizes he needs several more years before considering any HC gig.

Patricia, because he will do what BB teaches him to do.

McDonalds in the next opportunity he gets to call the shots he will implement his own philosophy and draft in his own way, not that it can't work, but I'd rather go with BB's method.

Its Patricia in my mind. Just love everything about him. Seems like hes worth the shot.

How do you know JMD doesn't buy into the BB philosophy? That is surprising to me.

Patricia is smarter, much more humble and most importantly, is loved by the players.

I'm more excited for what Matt Patricia can do than Josh McDaniels. Besides, Matt has an awesome t-shirt collection.

I still keep meaning to buy one...

I forgot to mention it's only my perception, it doesn't seem like he would go full BB and certainly there's nothing wrong with that, he already didn't in his first HC gig. Obviously if he is a smart guy he would retain a lot of things he learned under BB, but that doesn't translate directly to go 100% under BB philosophy.

I'm ok with your perception. I'm in discovery mode here....

How did JMD deviate from the Patriot Way in DEN?

Drafting Tebow might be one?

The timing of this will obviously lead people to pick the defensive guy.

I don't think so. I think Matt shares a lot of the same philosophy as BB... I don't know I have just always felt Matt would be the better choice.

Getting rid of Cutler (who clearly doesn't give a **** sometimes) and Brandon Marshall (who had maturity as well as mental health issues) seems right inline with Belichick's MO of only having people who prioritize football.

Tebow being an objectively bad 1st round pick doesn't make it against Belichick's overall philosophy, imo. It's not like Tebow turned into Manziel and stopped giving a **** or was a constant distraction with the things he'd do.

Patricia ... he's a well grounded individual who places great importance on communication with all players on the team. I think his style is conducive to the players respecting him and playing hard for him. I have nothing against Josh ... just feel Patricia should be that guy. That being said I thought the same of Romeo ... and it did not turn out so well for him. So opinion is just that ... not based on much fact.

Tebow, Demarius Thomas (1st round pick in a WR is already a no on BB's MO), Eric Decker. He seems to have more of an offensive mindset, naturally, since he is an OC.

BB is more defense and trenches. Obviously finding gold in Brady certainly had an impact (mostly positive) in many decisions BB had to make during all these years in NE. I'm curious to see JMD in a second gig at HC, I think he would do pretty well, I don't want him out like some people here, but I think it's inevitable, too many HC jobs available and some good situations for a rebuild.

Ah. I see where you are going.

Yea, from a team-building standpoint he was doing his own thing. I respect the fact that he has his own views. Just didn't work out.

I agree that Patricia seems to be able to relate to players on a more human level. Also, he's smarter than RAC. McD may be a genius at breaking down film, a total nerd at designing plays (pass plays) but he has no feel for the flow and tempo of the game and especially the running game. His previous gig as HC didn't show him in the greatest light as regards interpersonal skills. He might be a bit Asperger-y. I won't shed a tear when he leaves. Losing Patricia would be crushing.

McDaniels. How people forget that they used to call for Patricia's head back before he had the horses to run the scheme. McDaniels lost the horses to run his effectively this season but he's helped to guide some of the more potent offenses in NFL history including one that rang up points like a pinball machine last season en route to a Lombardi. Brady loves the guy and doesn't seem to want to lose him. People also forget that they wanted him back in a bad way after he left for Denver and Bill O'Brien came in and called a Kevin Faulk draw 500 times a game.

This.

Plus, on TV at least, it seems like Patricia connects with the players in a way that I can't remember with any other OC or DC in the past. What about you fortunate guys who live in NE and can see the sidelines up close and in person, do you get the same impression?
