My point is that I do not want to draft a QB in the first five rounds in 2014. Brady has four years remaining on his deal and seems intent of playing at least those seasons, if we drafted a QB this season he would sign a four year contract. That means we would have to resign him the offseason he was slated to take over the starting job.
I agree with that logic for not drafting a 1st round QB, but a 3rd/4th round QB still makes sense to me as a Mallett replacement. Ideally we can move one of next years draft picks into 2016 and target our Brady replacement then. That would give them 2 years in the system and either 2 or 3 years under contract when Brady's deal expires.
