Sam or Will linebacker? I hope these guys will be versatile. I'm sure Vrabel will spin the dial. Just saying that 3% you talking about is when it works... You don't like the exotic blitz plays, the confusing of the opposing offense during critical 3 downs. All I'm saying is can this kid do it if needed.

If he can't (which I would guess he can be as good as other prominent NFL rushers at it), it will be our coaches job to put them in the best position to succeed, and avoid putting them in positions where they can't.
We have good coaches, I'm sure they will deploy our guys appropriately.

Our defense gave up the edge. It's a Patriots weakest issue i.m.o. We judge this team on Superbowl performances. Vrabel job is to build a Superbowl team. It's hard, I'm just stating what I seen and documented. 161 yards...1 guy.

Ken Walker and the Seattle O was patient and persistent with the run. He was the focus of their offensive gameplan. He ripped off some large chunk runs, mostly off the edges… but also inside.

No single defender was responsible for the mess, Chaisson wasn’t particularly good versus the run or in contain… but he is gone. In fact almost every edge defender from last year is gone.

But again, our offense turning it over three
times, punting on their first 8 drives is why they lost. The only reason our D was on the field as long as they were was our offense‘s inability to sustain drives. Drake and the offense was putrid.

Want to play better defense, play less defense. Before injuries to Spillane and other defenders the D ranked top three in run defense, even after the injuries they finished the regular season 10th in yards per carry allowed and 4th in fewest rushing TD’s allowed in the entire NFL.

The linebacker play was not a problem until Spillane got hurt, they looked to upgrade the depth this offseason. Assuming health the D should be markedly improved, but it’s Drake and the offense who have to improve this season, especially against pressure and against the best defenses.

I hope so. For me most of our great Superbowl defenses we had extremely great linebackers who where versatile, powerful and nasty. I guess I'm the old man here....

Again we (and virtually every team now) is a nickel base. Nobody plays Sam, Mike, Will defense except on rare occasions.
You have 4 DL (whether you to call one of them a DE or an OLB they rush the qb and defend the edge)
Spillane and Elliss are the LBs. Spillane is good, Elliss is an athlete without football instincts.
In base both will play in sub only 1
The 3rd LB you are looking for is a DB.

Complimentary football is a real thing.
Hard for the D to continue to stand and up when your O is getting pounding and not giving the D a chance to breath.
Our D never had the chance to put their O in precious position.

Go ahead and goiogle the top edge riushers in football, Myles Garrett, Micah Parsons, Maxx Crosby, and Will Anderson etc... and how often they are used in pass coverage, and the answer comes the same every time, rarely and almost never.
