I'm the one making assumptions?
You assume that you know what Amendola wants, and you claim that it's a "big money contract" without ever bothering to define how much money that might be in $$ - cap hit for 2018.
The Pats' current cap space is a real number. The projections of the extra cap space the Pats might be able open up with certain roster/contract moves with their own players (currently under contract for 2018) are realistic estimates based on real numbers and based on how the salary cap and contracts work.
If you really give a crap about whether or not the Pats will - or even can - re-sign Amendola for 2018, you need a realistic number to compare to the real numbers.
Otherwise, you're just blowing smoke.
Now he wants to be paid. Probably the last big money contract he’ll ever get.
