Agreed - as the number 2 there, he's dangerous as all hell.

I wonder if it'll set up some movement for Edelman. Off the top of my head, I have never seen the Patriots leak a story like "3 year offer to Edelman" and then later come back and up the ante. To me, leaking the offer is a sign that there's not much more room for them to come up to Edelman's ask.

I hope they resign the beast.

Bummer, I was hoping for him. Will be interesting to see what he signs for, because my guess is that's the absolute ceiling for Edelman, with him more likely getting around 80% of that.

Sanders has been very quiet, he would fit the same role as Tate and offers more upside as a deep threat. Tate was an awesome run blocker though.

Jacoby Jones re-signs with Ravens.

Brandon Weeden released by Browns.

I do not think they would still be in the hunt for Edelman given this.

Someone worth considering should we trade Mallett? Not a starter but decent enough skills as a backup.

With Blaine Gabbert off the market I think you have to go after Brandon Weeden.

I keep reading people here talk about players getting overpaid, or saying that Talib wasn't worth what he got. All I can say to you people is that you must have missed:

Lions strike five-year deal with Golden Tate | ProFootballTalk

The defending Super Bowl champions are losing one of their key passing game targets.

The Lions and Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate have reached a five-year contract, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday.

Byrd told ESPN’s Josina Anderson that the contract is for $31.25 million and includes $13.25 million in guarantees.

DetroitLions.com first reported that the club had the makings of a deal with Tate, and ESPN first confirmed completion of the agreement.

Tate, 25, caught 64 passes for 898 yards and five touchdowns for Seattle in 2013. He was the No. 26 overall player and the No. 2 wide receiver on PFT’s Free Agent Hot 100.

Tate (5-10, 202) will be the primary complement to Lions go-to receiver Calvin Johnson in the Detroit passing game. The Lions have lacked consistent quality receiver play beyond Johnson in recent seasons. Veteran Nate Burleson, who was the most reliable wideout other than Johnson, was released earlier in the offseason.

Now, Tate will get his shot to fill the role opposite of Johnson, who draws considerable attention from opposing secondaries.

DEN is obviously going all-in and overspending.

They have freaking Aqib Talib the highest guaranteed money to any CB in history. The guy misses an average of 21-22 percent every season.

What more does anyone need to know? We've seen the cap increase before.

Just a difference of opinions.

Ravens hang onto Jacoby Jones for four more years | ProFootballTalk

The Ravens continue an impressive offseason of hanging onto their own.

The team just announced they had agreed to a new four-year contract with wide receiver Jacoby Jones.

That follows extensions with tight end Dennis Pitta and left tackle Eugene Monroe, as they attempt to improve their offense with a new coordinator.

He had visited the Giants Wednesday, but was on his way back to Baltimore to sign the deal.

His return ability alone makes him worth keeping, but he lends a deep element to the passing game that is needed, especially with a run game that struggled the way Baltimore’s did a year ago.

Edelman now has an established deal to work off.

Jacoby Jones also re-signed with the Ravens, so he'll have another deal to look at.

The wide outs are starting to go off the board now. Waiting to see what happens to Edleman, Decker, Nicks and Sanders.

A bit of Edelman news:

Ravens remain quite interested in WR Julian Edelman. Pats want him back too. Other teams in the mix

And now the Browns also have released QB Jason Campbell. So Campbell and Brandon Weeden both sent packing on same day.

Congrats to Hoyer (for now).

Let's hope that means he has shown something in terms of his recovery.

I knew the whole releasing Wilfork idea was too extreme.
