Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet 28s
For Toby Gerhart and the #Jaguars, it’s a 3-year deal worth $10.5M with $4.5M guaranteed. Strong.

lolwut.....

Still some 2nd tier S available out there. Mccourty can still get paid with a decent one..if not Harmon most likely.

Jets fans are absolutely losing their minds that Verner is now gone.

The Saints might have the second best safety combo in the NFL after Seattle. Vaccaro looked great before he got hurt last year.

Time to get crackin Bill... Talib or Revis who's it gonna be..?

Jets Pats fighting over Revis?
New england should trade for him just to keep him away from Rex.
So by my account we Have Talib Revis Munnerlyn Clemoms Decoud Allen Ware to upgrade the D.
Emanuel Sanders and Julian Edelman need to become Pats now.

basically just leaves Talib

Talib, and some guy named Revis.

I would say that Verner's deal pretty much sets a number for Talib....

Report: Revis would ?love? to return to the Jets | ProFootballTalk

The bad news is that the Jets seem destined to lose the 2014 third-round pick they presumed they’d get from the Bucs for the 2013 trade of Darrelle Revis. The good news is they could get back Revis.

If they want Revis.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that Revis would “love” to play for the Jets and coach Rex Ryan again.

While Ryan and some teammates and plenty of fans would “love” it, too, the guy who made the decision to trade Revis may not be interested. Owner Woody Johnson, weary of the constant threat of a holdout or other Revis-related drama, opted to trade him with a year left on a deal that Revis expected to have renegotiated last year. Johnson surely isn’t ready to re-embrace a player who seemed only to be happy when he wasn’t happy about his contract.

A cynic would suggest that Revis realizes the team (i.e., the owner) doesn’t really want him back. So by making it known that Revis would love to return, the knife will twist a little more if/when Revis ends up with the Patriots.

It’s believed that contending teams with franchise quarterbacks will pursue Revis the most aggressively, and that he’ll be inclined to take the best offer made by a team with which he thinks he can win.

Mevis could go back to the jets...they are in a huge hole at the CB position...they need a #1 bad

Saints had under 2 mil in cap space. Guess they're done until the draft. They must be pretty confident they're going to win the upcoming likely Graham grievance.

That's a super reasonable contract. Hopefully Talib goes for closer to that than what Davis and Shields got.

Agreed. The 4 signings which stand out to me from a "value" standpoint:

- Lamarr Houston to Chicago for 5 years / $35M ($15M.
- Linval Joseph to Minnesota for 5 years / $31.5M.
- TJ Ward to Denver for 4 years / $23M ($14M guaranteed).
- Alterraun Verner to Tampa Bay for 4 years / $26.5M ($14M guaranteed).

Compared to the rest of the bloated contracts being given out today, those 4 are good deals for their respective teams. Mike Mitchell got about as much money (5 years / $25M) as Ward.

The Pats could easily have afforded any of those 4 contracts both in terms of their cap space and the salary structure of their team. And any of those 4 players would have had a major impact.

Love seeing the Jet fans in misery lol

Not to mention that all four play at positions of need, and with the possible exception of Verner would have been great fits. I'd also potentially add Art Jones to your list - he, Houston, or Joseph would have been great for the Pats' d-line.

That is the aspect that seems to be frustrating a bit as a fan--watching those reasonably priced deals go down.

I have no problem with not making huge splashes, but when any of those 4 players would have been nice fits for us, it's difficult to stomach.

Oh well.
