Free Agent Signings around the League

We are all daydreaming about high end free agents. We can't or won't even re-sign our own free agents.
Is it merely a game of contract "chicken" with Edelman and Talib?

Hernandez is what it is

Wait a minute now. Hernandez was doing Bible study with his coach. Do you know he wasn't going to church also? You need to back up things you say, otherwise people might think you're talking out your ass using 20/20 hindsight, and we wouldn't want that.

I just KNEW you'd be pulling your lunatic act in this thread AGAIN. You want the team to win?? What on God's earth do you call the last THIRTEEN YEARS you insufferably moronic one note nutbag? YOU....a realist??????????????? LMAO x ten billion. YOU are as close as there has ever been to a SPACE ALIEN on this board since its inception.

Go back to your insane Amendola jihad and make another 5000 rip roaring knee slappers as your prognostications are napalmed into whackenhut eternity.

Joker you = not worth my time.

:bored:

I wonder if we're planning on going with Duron Harmon. Obviously this is way way way early in the offseason but, wonder what BB has in mind for this kid. Seemed to do well in limited duty.

I was afraid of that that just happened. The process of not having a decision on Wilfork's before FA would not allow us to go after a blue chip FA.

We could not have missed Ward for the Broncos. It's one of our biggest needs.
Cutting Isaac Sopoaga and Adrian Wilson would have freed up approximately $3.67 million in salary cap space.

Why did people have to hijack this thread with garbage. This thread was to report signings across the league. Not to be *****ing about Belichick.

I'm glad it's not about Patriot's signings or re-signings. It would be very boring.

Not on the current roster, so therefore do not matter to the discussion as I clearly pointed out “players on our roster today” –

- Blount
- Talib
- Thomas
- Green-Ellis

In addition I also said do not include UDFAs –

- Arrington
- Fletcher
- Vellano
- Bolden

So that leaves you with Chris Jones who is waiver claim, and Rob Ninkovich who was an in season signing to the practice squad.

First off, you clearly don't even remember what you are posting. Maybe you should do everyone a favor and just zip your trap. Second, here is the post I replied to. NO WHERE in that post do you limit who is and isn't applicable. BTW, you limiting who is and isn't applicable is stupidity as well.

Furthermore, Arrington wasn't a UDFA signing. He was signed after being cut by the Buccaneers.

New England Patriots: Kyle Arrington

You don't even know how the players from this team got here.

You can try again if you would like, but the personnel decisions have not been good and all of the love for Belichick in the world is not going to blind me of that. I know you think that Belichick ****s roses and that is fine but the fact is you will have a rude awakening when Tom Brady retires if the decisions continue as they have.

I don't need to "try again" since I schooled your sorry arse to begin with and since you can't even remember what you've posted previous.

I am not complaining either I am making an assessment, I know that anything that does not portray overwhelming hommerism is complaining to you but have you ever stopped to consider that I care about the team just as much as you do and I am frustrated that we have not strengthened our roster today when so many others have. Also for the record I am not at all upset about the failure to sign notable UFAs I am upset about the failure to retain our own.

As assessment would imply you look at all the facts. You clearly didn't. Furthermore you purposely tried to sway your argument by spinning the facts and even trying to move the goal posts.

It's the 1st day of free agency. I don't remember every single transaction, but I am fairly confident in saying that there have been only 2 or 3 free agents signed by Belichick on Day 1 of free agency during his tenure here. So, if you are frustrated, then it's because of your own erroneous expectations and delusions.

If we got Byrd that would be a coup over Ward in Denver. Gimme the ball hawk.

In a vacuum I'd definitely take Byrd and sort out the details later, but I'm willing to bet that he'll get way more than what Ward got from Broncos. That was a great signing by Denver, as much for the money involves as for the player himself.

Interesting..."sustainable success in UFA," meaning multiple signings of major UFAs with high-level multiyear impacts?

Can you give me some examples of franchises that have been reliable models of this approach?

I honestly do not compare the Patriots to other franchises, I look at what they do, and the success they are having. Success for me would have been locking up Talib, and Edelman.

Now i know this guy is a troll. Move along

Cutting Isaac Sopoaga and Adrian Wilson would have freed up approximately $3.67 million in salary cap space.

I think Belichick wants to give these guys more time to prove themselves so they are not considered failed signings.

The Pats have somewhere in the neighborhood of $15M available on the cap right now. That's more than enough to sign a blue chipper if they really want him, then have more time to either renegotiate with Vince or cut him if he won't play ball.

If they haven't been pursuing top-of-the-market guys (which we can't really know either way at this point), then that's definitely not the reason why.

smart man then

We will see how it goes, I mean really what do you want me to say, I am disappointed with today, I hope it gets better. I really am not looking to argue with you or anyone else, I see an issue with our current approach to UFA, if you do not so be it but I have the right to my opinion. Do you see me attacking you or anyone else because the express their opinion? I mean seriously this childish crap needs to stop, people should be able to express their views without being braided, if you disagree speak your piece and then move on, instead you keep going, and going, and going.

Joker you = not worth my time.

:bored:

I realize I and 99% of the rest of this site's members are beneath you. You already printed THAT in your ridiculous "I don't pay attention to anyone making less than seven figures" post. I will continue to make my OPINION as to your mental stability known as YOU continue to post hundreds of the most insane, ridiculous, uninformed screeds, 95% of which are indecipherably sub-mongoloidal Amendola hatred messages.

Please donate crates of Geritol to the New England Patriots.

Best regards,

Nick Caserio

I would have been pissed if Den got Byrd. If he goes to NO, oh well. dirrerent Conf.

Ward 5 career picks, 5 FF's. Byrd 22 and 11. Ones a tackle machine, ones a ballhawk. I'll take the ballhawk.

Ward was the one signing I saw today that I thought was actually good value, so often the first day of FA is fools gold.

Yeah they were solid acquisitions no doubt about, but they gave us one year of service, Carter missed all of the playoffs, and Waters did not even show up to camp the next year. I am looking for some sustainable success in UFA and it has been a while. What I am looking for is a change in approach, the end of life veteran signings used to be a great approach for Belichick but in recent years they’ve been failing, I think he needs to get away from that. That is all I am saying here, not sure what is unreasonable about it but either way.

Of course, the NE front-office should have had the foresight to know that Carter would come up lame right before the playoffs and Waters would go AWOL in 2012 after an All-Pro 2011...

Furthermore, you stated that Belichick needs to "get away" from vet free agent singing because they have not come through recently. So.. what does he need to go for? High priced free agents within the first few hours of free agency? You mentioned previously in another post that you just wanted the team to resign their own free agents. Well, perhaps they will, perhaps they won't depending on how much money is offered from other teams to Talib, Edelman, etc.

Lastly, what you are saying is not unreasonable, nor is it reasonable because you could not have been any vaguer about what the front office needs to do instead of going after older, more sensibly-priced vets...
