Bailey, Shelton and some OT and TE
Kind of difficult to compare the two players, since Roberts is only costing about 2m dollars, and Collins is likely looking for 8-10m.
Also, Collins is obviously a much better athlete, but Roberts is probably better as a pure, downhill run thumper. He’s also more disciplined, which is huge in this defense. They excel at much different roles. As gifted as Collins is, his coverage skills are probably overstated. Just not seeing the value, but anything is possible.
He appears to have more natural talent, but there had to be a reason why BB traded him for a 3rd in the middle of the season instead waiting for compensatory 3rd. I’ll surprised if BB signs him.
Im afraid Collins might be closer to vet minimum category at this point. Id be surprised if any SFA LB signs for more than Zach Brown did a few days ago w PHI - 1y/3M max..
Roberts isn't that bad anymore, and Collins isn't that good anymore.
Hard pass. I like players who can play their position, not be frequently out of it.
Jamie freelanced way too much. And what's BB's mantra? "Do your job."
True that Cousin.
I wonder if we will start seeing rumors of agreements after 4 PM?
Everybody is all excited about signings, and I’m over here just hoping we get some May 7 tenders to add to the chaos.
Roberts is way better than what people think.
I don’t think it will be that low. He was making 10m last year, wasn’t he? It could be half of what he was previously making, but that would still signify one major paycut, which would also mean that no one values him anymore, and that’s likely for a reason.
Any way you look at it, he’s taken a big step backwards.
They are totally different players. Roberts is a run stuffer. Collins at this point is a edge player and he’s not better than Hightower or Van Noy to take snaps from them. It’s about roles people.
I'll trust Mayo on this one.
For those desperately looking for new additions . the wait will go a bit longer..
And like Sciz says, its also the start of May 7 designations
“Deadline for prior club to send “May 7 Tender” to its unsigned Unrestricted Free Agents. If the player has not signed a player contract with a club by July 22 or the first scheduled day of the first NFL training camp, whichever is later, he may negotiate or sign a player contract from that date until the Tuesday following the 10th weekend of the regular season, at 4:00 p.m., New York time, only with his prior club.“
Pats used this on Blount. Blount and most of the league were baffled/didn't know about this. BB and Ernie in the know & steps ahead as always
This year they NE could use it on some of their unsigned UFAs like:
OT John, LB McLellan, DT Shelton, RB Hill
John is visiting around and probably finds a club before, but for McClellan, Shelton and esp. coming from injury Hill could make a lot of sense..
Roberts improved in all areas last year. Hes a perfect 400 snap a year guy/reserve player.
BB back in the office . his time now..
Nice start of FA 2
Ansah reportedly to sign with the Seahawks
