I mean have people actually READ the 2nd Amendment. It start with the words "A well regulated Militia, being NECESSARY to the security of a free State" Militias were an 18th century necessity where the government needed private citizens to have guns and bring them when they were called. What was a necessity THEN is well covered by well armed entities like National Guard, national, state, local law enforcement .

The meaning of this Amendment has been perverted in the late 20th Century into a cry for Liberty and the right for the gun industry to make billions without any blood on their hands. When the Constitution was written there was a VALID reason for this amendment to exist. That reason no longer exists so why do we hold on to it so hard. Why? because we have been sold a very effective PR campaign that has linked guns to liberty. to the point where even the most reasonable measures are fought tooth and nail. The result of it guns are the #1 cause of childhood death. (19% of the deaths of children (1-18) as of 2020() Take a bow NRA

LOL, thanks for the lesson

Sad thing is, Patriots will cut him. Then during the season when the average NFL fan stops caring he will sign with a team like the chiefs and produce for them

I'm starting to think some professional athletes aren't that smart.

He'll be cut and eventually play somewhere else.

Which is funny in a way. Teams get a pass on picking up other teams' trash because they can say "it's a fresh start."

Yep, patriots will get eviscerated if they don't cut him from the moral high ground crowd.

Then will be allowed to sign with another team because he "deserves a second chance"

I'm kind of at the point with the NFL where why cut the guy. In 6 months no one will care and he'll be on another team. Producing for them. Plenty of worse guys in the NFL.

The Antonio brown situation proved that for me.

I'm a little unclear here about the legalities. Aren't you required in EVERY state to be licensed to have a gun. Maybe he can beat the charges or just pay a fine IF he had a legal license to have those guns. But didn't one report say one or both those guns were unlicensed?

What a shame, what a waste. Another great day for the gun manufacturers of American and all their lobbyists. I feel SOOOO much safer. Sorry, it's just late. I'm tired and when I'm tired cranky and sleep deprived I tend to rant and tell the truth
No. Most states have zero registration requirements.

Can’t win with a guy like this, not smart and no self control, it negates the talent no matter what team signs him.

This is a Federal Offense
Concealed carry with a Loaded gun and extended clip in a airport in Massachusetts
Not sure why he felt the need to bring 2 weapons on a plane
I think these type of charges are an instant deal breaker after the Hernandez situation. Not saying he was going to murder someone but this situation makes me sense a bad lifestyle for this young man
When I travel via auto, I cant bring my pistola with me when traveling through NY and Mass enroute to NH which honors my CCW permit.

Jones is going to jail.

Pretty dumb move to carry a loaded weapon into the secure area of the airport...almost unbelievably dumb. I wonder if, like a few others here, we shouldn't cut him if he's going to produce. Plenty of teams employ players guilty of far worse, even right here in our own division.

If the Pats want to cut him because there is some sort of internal standard of conduct that compels them to do so, I'd say that's fair play. If the Pats cut him because a bunch of karens are upset, that's a terrible idea. They're fickle and will move on to the latest "outrage of the day". As others have said, he'll simply go to another team with "moral flexibility" like the Chiefs and they can reap the rewards.

Then again, Dennard was also talented but couldn't help himself. He was out of the league pretty much after the Pats dropped him.

No. Most states have zero registration requirements.
But you need a Conceal Weapons Permit from your resident state thats honored in the state that your traveling to or through.

@patfanken I work in environmental health and have spent the last couple of years trying to get an angle on how to work with Christian conservative communities about protecting the environment. Why are conservative communities are so tolerant of big institutions ruining their health through environmental exposures and thus depriving them of the life and liberty they cherish? In that exploration, I've realized how badly I misunderstood their values and responses.

I suspect the guns rights issue isn't about any of the angles that actually get talked about, as well, and all the yelling and dismissing of each other is the core problem at this point.

If you can legally own and possess the pistol in the state of origin and the state of destination, you are protected by federal law. Of course, when driving through the NJ-NY-CT-MA corridor, you cannot have the weapon accessible to you in the vehicle, but you can have it in the vehicle, locked up, unloaded, etc.

That is, of course, unless you have a concealed carry permit for the state through which you're traveling, which is essentially impossible in NJ-NY unless you're extremely upper class. I understand (from a friend of mine in the NY State Troopers) NY policy is to arrest you upon discovery of a weapon and make you prove your innocence. CT is fairly liberal when issuing even out-of-state permits. No idea on MA, to be honest.

Best just not to do it.

As for Jones...don't know how MA rolls with this stuff, but yeah...he's got quite the uphill climb to retain his liberty. He's run afoul of federal law, not just MA law.

You have to be proven to have malicious intent to get jail time. Like i posted about, it happens about 7000 times a year in the US. Many dont even get arrested, but it is MA afterall. Usually a fine and some kind of program, with what is generally considered to be the worse outcome, is losing your ability to own a firearm. They tend to be more lenient with High net-worth and public figures, which believe it or not, has happened countless times before. Again, not saying he gets a pass, but he aint going to jail. Not a chance unless there is more to the story. The vast majority of these cases get thrown out.. Same thing happened to Mike Epps about 3 months ago.

After reading about it, he was probably arrested because of the extended Mag which is illegal in MA. Depended on where he was traveling to, and where and if his guns were permitted, that's what could be his undoing. You can also buy a gun in another state with the intent to get it permitted in another state. There's often a grace period in states that require you to have a license in the first place. Remember, this is the United states, not Australia.
What happened to no firearms in Mass?

There used to be signs planted at state lines stating it was jail time to enter Mass with a firearm.

Yeah he wasn’t exactly a key player though. Probably depends how good you are.
He was a key player a special teams ace and was about to be in one of the starting rotation safety roles that season.

I went through TSA this week, the TSA pre line, with a bottle of cough syrup that had more than 4 ounces in it. They pulled my bag out, found the offending bottle, and asked me what I wanted to do about it. I asked if they could just pour out the excess and give it back to me as 4 ounces, because I really need to the stuff right now (reactive airway due to pollution) and don't want to freak everyone out on the plane by coughing a lot. The guy paused for a second, said "just a second", took the bottle behind some screen, came back and handed it to me. I figure he'd done what I asked and thanked him profusely. On I went.

Only when I opened the bottle later did I realize he hadn't poured any out at all. I suspect he just smelled it to make sure it was in fact cough syrup.

Just to say, I've found TSA to be more and more reasonable in the last couple of years.

Was this Dulles? I had something similar happen a couple months ago.

People get caught carrying firearms on a plane happens all the time. Jack Jones is hardly the only one.

TSA officers have found 6,301 firearms in carry-on bags so far this year, surpassing the previous record of 5,972 detected in 2021. The numbers have been increasing steadily over the last decade; in 2012, 1,549 firearms were detected at security checkpoints.

Eighty-eight percent of the guns found this year were loaded, the TSA said.

Well, I don't think so. I mean, I own guns in MA. I have for many years now. Just having them doesn't mean I'm going to murder someone.

But I've never brought them to an airport and tried to get them by TSA. That's just dumb. And he's going to pay the price.
I stated it does not mean he was going to murder someone
I own guns also. But respect the law of owning and carrying weapons
He does not seem to care or is extremely dumb. Or his lifestyle compels him to have one at all times.
The extended clip is the head scratcher. You can own them in Ma. if you were grandfathered in before 1994 and have a permit for them. He obviously is not in that category. To boot tried to get in on a plane. This was not 12 ounces of SunTan lotion
He just screwed up his life. His big contract day just came to a screeching halt
