[Edited thread title] Jack Jones arrested for possession of firearms at airport

The USA is about as dumb as it gets with gun laws/licensing/registration...but hey, we follow the money, whatever the non-monetary cost.
From afar in the Uk we get that most of you guys love your guns. That alone seems odd to us but the lack of background checks etc just seems insane. We need a license to have a ****ing TV .

I dunno why people think he needs to be cut. He didn’t hurt anyone here and he wasn’t posting to social media show-boating. Could be as simple as having grabbed the wrong bag before going to the airport. Is that smart? No but it’s a pretty far cry from the Aaron Hernandez comparisons some are making…
25-year-old Jackie K. Jones of Arizona is facing several charges including possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a large-capacity feeding device, according to police.

I brought up the Hernandez situation meaning the Patriots will be less tolerable about someone compelled to carry guns on a plane. They were embarrassed once by a hidden lifestyle of one of their players. They will be suspicious more than maybe other teams.
Sorry don’t buy the dog ate my homework analogy
Concealed weapon charge could be that he was carrying or close to him in his luggage. Carrying a loaded firearm may lean more to that he had in on his body concealed. So the wrong bag theory goes out the window. That will all be determined later.
I own weapons and in Ma. they need to be locked up in a safe until you possess them. Then you put them back in the safe. Not in your luggage. He can be just plain dumb and not give a crap about state laws. Or did not learn the laws.
He is a key piece to our Defense and I get wanting him to stay on the team. I initially felt that way from a selfish point of view. But my guess is He just don’t give a crap and he knew he had possession of them in an area with signs everywhere that state it is illegal to do that
Edit: Another article states they were in his carry on. But as I stated they should have not been stored in any carry on and the extended clip is illegal in Ma. I own guns but respect the right to own them and the laws that govern them. No exceptions. With his past when is it that this young man is going to show some maturity.

Hey don't blame us, you guys run your own ship and have had plenty of time to change it. Lots has changed since 1775.

In the Uk it used to be legal to kill a welsh person with a bow and arrow if you were on English soil and they were in Wales. Suffice to say you can't do that any more which is probably for the best.
I’m not American, so I likely share your views on guns.

Having said that, your country has been the most genocidal in human history. In 1755, your country attempted genocide to my people by taking their lands and putting us on boats. Thousands perished.

This BS English speakers often use (that was years ago, move on) is utter crap. We have felt the effects for 250 years and I’m pretty sure the Irish and the Scottish feel the same way. I wonder if Nazi sympathizers would be well received in a few hundred years with the ‘let bygones’……

Guns - IMO - are bad. But so has England for the better part of its history.

Back to the story : I think they should move on from the player. Backlash and bad decision-making will overwhelm his value.

How much of Kraft’s money would it take to convince the police to release a statement stating that they made a mistake and that it was actually Bryant who was arrested on gun charges?

I don’t necessarily feel he needs to be cut but definitely feel like you can’t depend on the guy. With his checkered past, getting drafted and the drama he had during the season to now this? Very disappointed or maybe I’m jealous that someone could be so close to walking a line and just have balls of steel to not give af. I’d be so worried about getting cut for farting the wrong direction. Guys that screw up repeatedly just really piss me off. Get with the program Jackie.

thug?

because he likes guns? Most here like guns...

I once brought up the idea of getting rid of guns altogether as I see absolutely no need for them, but Ian shut that down right quick...

so a man exercising his second amendment right is a thug? that's a rather large stroke with a very broad brush... That white hood aluminum foil cap must be on pretty tight

He doesn't have to go, as we all know there is a double standard for good players in this league... Its more like you want him to go... some more anti-BB ammo (pun intended) for the Fellowship of the Miserable?
Plenty of people everyday get caught trying to bring weapons of all kinds through logan and they don't get labeled thugs.. @Pape perfectly put !!!!!!!!! We know it's coming from the same people who think January 6th was a peaceful protest.

It's TSA has nothing to do with Logan.. strictly a federal government issue, FAA and homeland security.
If it was the case, they wouldn't have charged him with the "extended magazines" because there is no Federal law on that.

Now I'm a racist? FU. Another douchebag comment from an Internet clown who doesn't know a god damn thing about me.

And WTF does this have to do with Belichick?

Jones is illegally carrying multiple loaded firearms and a large capacity feeding device. In carry-on baggage at an airport. Why?? You got some pleasant explanation for it? Let's hear it counsellor. I'll go with probable nefarious intent. He has a criminal history and it took him less than one season to get suspended by the team and now arrested for a serious crime. What's next? I doubt Kraft is dumb enough to find out. Jones has to go. I don't give a **** if he's black, white or rainbow colored... his race has nothing to do with it. That's ******** you brought into the equation.

Yeah understand.. he facing 10 counts.. it's just a tough situation.. I really Like JJ..

Fully agree
He should have went higher in draft but had a checkered past.
Got suspended last year on a team violation
Now this. He knew what he was doing in all those situations but seems to have a rebel attitude in life
This is not a one time situation regarding his integrity. His past speaks for itself
I want players that resoects and can be respected. Not someone we have to kow tow to because he is a good player
I don’t want to be the Ravens

I live in Canada. East coast francophone. There are still older people in the area that were beaten at school if the spoke French at recess.

Poverty for centuries. I guess the joke was ultimately on them. They took the farmlands and are struggling, while we were told to settle on the rocky shores upon our return from exile. Now, since lobster is like gold, the once poor are millionaires and the once rich are planting corn in the heat…

Thanks for the info DB Both interesting and sad. So you are saying in almost half the states in the union you need to both pass a written and actual test to drive a car (and pay for the privilege to boot), yet in half the country I can just walk into Walmart and walk out with a Glock or semi-automatic rifle with clips that hold dozens of rounds by just showing him a drivers license then legally take that weapon anywhere? OUCH!

Driving is a privilege, not a right. More people die in Car deaths than are murdered every year.
No. You can't just walk in and walk out. You do have to pass a background check.
No. You can't legally take it anywhere. There are restrictions and they vary by state.
We are the ONLY and I repeat ONLY industrialized first world country that has at LEAST one mass shooting a day And #2 is such a long way away from what we manage to "accomplish". But instead of doing something about it we have doubled down and make it easier and easier to kill one another with every more dangerous weapons.
This is false also.
I mean have people actually READ the 2nd Amendment. It start with the words "A well regulated Militia, being NECESSARY to the security of a free State" Militias were an 18th century necessity where the government needed private citizens to have guns and bring them when they were called. What was a necessity THEN is well covered by well armed entities like National Guard, national, state, local law enforcement .

Well-regulated only means Well-Maintained. And it has nothing to do with individual Firearms ownership.
The 2nd Amendment was always about being a counterpoint to a tyrannical government.
The meaning of this Amendment has been perverted in the late 20th Century into a cry for Liberty and the right for the gun industry to make billions without any blood on their hands. When the Constitution was written there was a VALID reason for this amendment to exist. That reason no longer exists so why do we hold on to it so hard. Why? because we have been sold a very effective PR campaign that has linked guns to liberty. to the point where even the most reasonable measures are fought tooth and nail. The result of it guns are the #1 cause of childhood death. (19% of the deaths of children (1-18) as of 2020() Take a bow NRA

BTW- I don;t even want to take guns away from people. I just want to have owners to be licensed. To have proven they have a passing knowledge of how to safely handle the weapon they own. That only sane ADULTS can own them. And that Assault weapons, automatic pistols with large clips are outlawed because their only use is to kill people in large numbers...., and make weak people with little ****s feel big....ooops did I just go too far. I better go back and try and get a couple of hours more sleep. I have to be sharp...heading to the "Woods" and go to work. But is hard to rest easy when I know there are wacko's out there running FREELY around with weapons of mass destruction

You're incorrect, Ken. The claims that the Amendment has been perverted is done by the ones who are actually perverting it. I can give you at least 10 quotes from our Founding fathers in that regard. Furthermore, you can look up Bliss v. Commonwealth (1822) and Nunn v. Georgia (1846). Both court cases acknowledge the Individual Right to Bear arms.

Not sure where you got your numbers on Child deaths, but it's false and been debunked by numerous unbiased sites.. Ones that actually include things like Drug Overdoses..

So NFL players who exercise their constitutional rights are now "thugs" and may commit a crime in the future so the best thing is to release him? There is a world of difference between Jones and Hernandez, who hung out with the wrong crowd throughout his life. Hernandez had no friends on the Pats and in fact his teammates were afraid of him. Hernandez hung out with gangs when he left the stadium.
There’s no constitutional right to bring a loaded gun on a plane. Nor is there a right to break other firearms laws. He has the right to own guns, but he must do so legally and he apparently did not. I’m not sure how they try and plea bargain this combo of state and federal charges, but the high capacity charge has a 2.5 year minimum.

The 2nd Amendment was always about being a counterpoint to a tyrannical government.
Look up the Whiskey Rebellion, George Washington personally led the troops to put down the first attempt to take up arms against the government. Using your logic he and his fellow founders would have supported the right to armed rebellion.

Think of this logically. The founders had risked their lives to create a new, elected by the people (some of them anyway) form of government. There was no way they were enabling every crackpot with a grievance and a gun to take up arms against it. That was proven by their response when some did.

This doesn’t make any sense. He’s a “thug” and a potential murderer because he had a firearm in an airport unlawfully? There’s not a strong correlation here.
Nothing to see here? Ok. Why the arrest? Does he have a clean criminal history? What's his track record with the team in less than one year? Suspension and a firearms related arrest. I suppose too you had Hernandez pegged before his arrest for murder? The mass murdering wasn't a surprise for you.

And I didn't accuse Jones of killing anyone but there's a very ugly recent history with the team so they have to be particularly sensitive about this type of situation. That's just the way it is, so if Jones goes down in part for the past sins of another, then too bad. The organization is way bigger than one player who already has a serious blemish on his short tenure with the team and now at the very least he's made an incredibly irresponsible decision that resulted in an arrest for multiple firearms charges.

I agree. I’m not saying that he does have the right to bring the gun on the plane. But him having a gun by itself is a constitutional right and should hardly be reason for getting cut. He made a mistake.

My sentiments exactly. When is this kid going to grow up

The fact that well regulated militias were seen as a reason to keep and bear arms does not follow that it’s the only reason citizens can do so under the text of the 2A.
