Edelman to return for a playoff run?

Not expecting this to happen, but if it did, I wouldn't be mad. He wouldn't be a starter for us though, more like a #4 who can make clutch catches the way Amendola did. His play had already fallen off before he retired.

Then again, Gronk's play also fell off before he retired.
His play had "fallen off before he retired"? Didn't he have 8 catches for 179 yards against Seattle last year? 179 yards being the most receiving yards of his career. He was injured a game or two after that and never saw the field again. Same old Edelman.

You seem to have done a little cherry picking here...

depends on when the knee started bothering him

How about this Batpersons?
Troy Brown comes out of retirement for the playoffs! No?

If we are gonna go to the way back machine, this guy gets my vote.

Also getting thrown to by Cam. If he can put up 180 in any game with Cam color me sold on his ability.

What is Russ Francis doing Thursday night?

Fun fact about Russ Francis. A high school friend of mine dated him the year or two after she graduated from college. He was like 20 years older than her. Maybe I will call her and see if she still has his number. Maybe she can see if he is available.

I could see Edelman playing a couple of games with Brady and Gronk, after TB loses a couple of more games. Then, they can all go out together.

Jules is a very rare breed. IMO he wouldn't play for anyone but the Patriots, period. He is intensely loyal. and a
true diehard. While I am sure he still thinks about playing, he's already left it all on the field. He is one of my favorite players of all time.
All out, every single play.

The Squirrel would probably still draw triple coverage says a lot about current cast.
That said Mac would be very happy with a receiver of his caliber even at his age.

If Edelman actual does return (although I ain’t holding my breath), he addresses the biggest need on the offense. A quick slot receiver who can run rub routes and effective slants.
i don’t think this makes sense to me. Our top 2 WRs (jakobi and Bourne) are exactly that type of player. This is the type of skillset we actually already have.

Meyers is not quick and he struggles run a rub route (watch the Gilmore interception in Carolina). My biggest complaint about the passing offense is the poor routes for pick plays. He is more effective outside.

And although quick, Bourne is being used in a number of ways and not a heck of a lot in the slot. He seems to be best suited for the Z receiver role.

Meyers is quick, especially off the line in his releases. He had a bad play on the Gilmore pick but I am not using that one play to characterize him as a player.
There is more evidence of him being a very good route runner, especially on routes underneath, with good short area quickness.
