Ok, so let's talk about it

Crennel also ran it in Cleveland too…
Apparently Flores used it in Miami too. Against Herbert. I just found this analysis, thought it was interesting to hear how Flores changed up the coverage on the back end to get a pick. This was five years ago so Herbert has seen a lot since then but it shows that at least in the past it gave him some problems.

No, it doesn't work that way. The problem is people get angry, fly into a rage and commit acts of depravity when they feel precious life minutes are being wasted. It just is not worth it.
I think we should encourage folks not to be angry, or at least super angry. It's not conducive to well-being.
Depends on whether your goal is cheap clicks or meaningful engagement/exchange of ideas.
Personally, I like a balance. In most things and experiences, there are profound things, to go along with mundane, trivial, not so valuable ones. I like having perspective. And, they often tend to complement one another.

There has been a smattering of discussion about McDaniels putting all sorts of weird **** on tape the last month or so, even yesterday, we saw the off-tackle flea flicker make its long-awaited return (shoutout James White) - and we even saw the wildcat with Stevenson where he scored (against Miami, warmed the ****les of my cold, dead heart to see that one)

What I want to talk about in this thread is something that was really, really strange, and not something you'd expect to see on a team without a DC.

That was not just the rotation of the defensive line with (almost) everyone healthy, but where they were playing.

Christian Barmore spent the 2nd quarter as a 7/9-tech right defensive end. Pass rushing. Did pretty well too, although he didn't seal one edge where they gave up a big run.

Also saw Perpetual Late-Bloomer Anfernee Jennings playing some DT again, and the Practice Squad Crew playing all the positions up and down the line.

What are they cooking? Are they cooking something? Maybe it's Williams who gets some run outside in the playoffs, not necessarily Barmore?

I'd love to hear actual thoughts, surely it wasn't just me who saw this.
Two things, first, keeping fresh guys in there - and keeping guys fresh. Moving around definitely helps, as opposed to just doing the same thing all the time.

Second, playing together as a team. No one is special; the team is. We have lots of history here with that being good enough to win the title.

I liked the title of this thread. Sounds like something a wife would say as you begin to squirm.

NGL I was instantly transported back to one of my worst attempts to defuse spousal tension with humor. Keeping in mind we have 5 boys:
Wife: We need to talk about your son.
Me: What did my apparently motherless offspring do? Also can you narrow it down to which one it was this time for me?
Wife: (responds solely with THE LOOK)

The ensuing few days may have been the quietest our home was during the child rearing years. Wife giving bone chilling wife looks indicating my punishment had yet to be determined backed by silent treatment, our boys tip toeing around waiting for the shoe to drop, me silently praying... even the dog was keeping a low profile. For all I know we might never have spoken again if she hadn't been driving one of my all time favorite completed project cars taking her sister to the airport when some ass clown decided to go right from the inside lane of the old Bell Circle. To this day I still appreciate that TR3's noble sacrifice

See, I think you and I would get along. We understand and appreciate sarcasm and humor.

Unfortunately, as you know, most of the rest of the world, including our spouses, do not in any way, shape or form.

So, what I at a glacially slow (with dire consequences) pace have been forced to learn over my lifetime is that we may exercise our superlative wit only in about 5-10% of the occasions where it is entirely appropriate, called for and would be helpful and entertaining.

And this is exactly why this local pro football team website is the only one I regularly check in with.

Oh, yeah, this is most definitely football-related. Rarely during the game are family members that far away.

I can see you and I having total empathy for Irving when he missed the AFCCG after bit of a domestic disturbance, and then thankfully was able to then play and catch a touchdown pass from Steve in the Super Bowl.

Women tend to resent and sometimes go out of their way to express their disdain for sports and its relevance to us men. Bill Russell had a similar experience detailed in Second Wind, maybe you already read it.

I think the Pats have been fairly consistent on both offense and defense most of the season, so in my opinion the point of that game was to put a ton of wild **** on tape on both sides of the ball to make opposing OCs and DCs question if they truly know what’s coming on any given play.

I am blessed in that regard, my wife is an avid sports fan. She roots for the local laundry with abandon. A little crazy when Pats, Celts and Sox games are on and an absolute lunatic when it's the B's. There is something about hockey that unleashes the inner lunatic in some women, @RobertWeathers knows what I'm talking about as I'm sure do some others. When our boys were playing the other hockey mom's sat well away from her during games but readily sought her out for all youth hockey events and social occasions. She becomes a boisterous, fangs bared, claws out passionate lunatic the minute a puck drops and has yet to meet a ref that deserved anything but full-throated contempt. It's kinda frightening in a hard to describe but undeniably hot way. Hockey gals are a different breed

I have no doubt we would get along famously. I have now been on the planet long enough that I understand a substantial portion of the population is far too serious about... well... pretty much everything. They just aren't chill enough to appreciate our efforts to keep things from becoming combustible for what they are. Poor souls, God bless 'em

For my part, I've spent a bit too much time off-planet, at least figuratively. So I work on my social skills constantly.

Mrs. APF is not a big sports fan, but she absolutely despises the Lakers. I think I married well.

If she tolerates you and despises LA, you married well enough lol

When you are on a date and your seats are right on the ice and shes banging on the glass yelling obscenities at Claude Lemieux, you know you have a keeper.

I mean, it was odd to see the use of more gadget plays the last 2 weeks against bad non-playoff teams.
Is that because they're inception-ing the NFL to be ready for all kinds of tomfoolery? Maybe.

It goes along with the "saving" of Rham during a lot of the MIA game. And mostly using Hendo to run inside the tackles...
I feel like that's setting things up for what they really want to do in the playoffs. We'll see.

What a sacrifice.

It is still mourned. It was the pre-internet days of car & motorcycle restoration. Finding parts was an adventure back then; a combination of magazines, shows & swap meets, knowing a guy who knew a guy, club meetings and oddball junkyard visits. I came across the TR3 in a Mom & Pop junkyard I went to for Jag parts, she was sitting in mud to her rockers, a sorry sight to see. Our oldest son was with me, he saw it and it was love at 1st sight. Great dad moment, right there and then I knew in my heart we'd given birth to at least one gearhead.

The boys are all men now and as it turned out they've all got gas in their veins. They all either have a classic car or bike, some have both. The shared passion for the Pats and wrenching keeps us close.

Not only does running those plays help distract teams preparing to play the Pats, it also helps the offense practice those plays in case trickery is needed to win a playoff game. Those plays look much better now than they did earlier in the year.
