Took a quick look at the CDCs testing numbers and they've dropped to 3000 per day. Anyone hear anything about why that is?

Meaning the amount of tests being conducted on a daily basis is dropping?

Yikes.

Would be interested to know if you’d agree he’s a Marxist though or has somewhat of a Marxist worldview. (Guessing no because you said he’s well to your right)

do you read the racing form, or just a numbers guy?

Think Bernie came up in the New Left, but less on the intellectual side of it, so he invitably retains something from Marxism, but I wouldn't really consider him a Marxist. He's a social democrat, a reformist, but in countries like Sweden or Finland he'd probably be considered a centrist. He invokes the New Deal a lot, and Roosevelt was hardly a socialist. Keep in mind most people of his generation associate various socialist tendencies with what you think about the Cold War too, and everything's colored by the Soviet Union. (To me, the Soviet Union isn't worth defending. It was a weird utopian project arranged by weird intellectuals for a few years, then events cast it on a downward path into authoritarian terror, and the upshot after all that was just an anemic state capitalism.)

But it's also tough to say he isn't socialist or whatever; the terms' basically completely meaningless at this point. Probably worth separating Marxism as a political project and Marxism as an analytical method. The latter inevitably gets you to a political project ("Philosophers have hitherto only interpreted the world; the goal is to change it") but it's not a straight path. I wouldn't say his worldview is Marxist in any meaningful sense, but he's obviously drawn certain things from the broad strokes of the left. In electoral terms, unlike many Bernie people, I didn't see much difference between his political program and that of Warren's, and I preferred Warren in 2020 for reasons of banal bureaucratic competence.

And yeah I read the forms. I haven't played much this year since I had a kid last summer, though. Didn't play the Breeder's Cup and hadn't even been tracking the prep races, which I'm usually on top of. Go to Travers every year. Friday pick threes at Gulfstream in March using Race 1 at thetop is a little past even my peak level of degeneracy though, so kudos on that.

“Millions of people are scared. Thousands quarantined in hospitals, hundreds dead. What do you say to the nation?”

“I say to them that you are a terrible reporter.”

LMAO!!!!

The old wizard's sarcasm is tough to catch sometimes. Or at least I thought it was sarcasm.

Those things @Patsfanin Philly was talking about are megachurches??? My dad always just called them Heresy Centers. The more you know, I guess!

Big states have started testing more on-site so the need to mail swabs to Atlanta has dropped. It's probably a good sign, but testing capacity is still not enough.

The only Beverly Hillbillies movie I saw was the abomination with Jim Varney. I always get that confused with “Slums of Beverly Hills,” where the red head from “American Pie” uses a vibrator in the bathroom at the beginning of the movie. I saw that movie when I was like 9-10 years old and that scene always stuck out for some odd reason.

Yeah but

Very underrated movie.

“That’s good, daddy. We wouldn’t want you drinking and driving.”

“Oh, I’ll be driving. I’ll just be too ****faced to remember to pick you up.”

You are confusing the reporting of twitter nonsense with real reporting. I know it is difficult and I still dont understand why twitter posts are news worthy, but twitter is not real news.

Yeah, agreed. I normally hate parodies but that one got it right. Probably doesn't hurt that the male lead is a Pats fan and did some comic book work or something.

The testing numbers on the CDC site include public health labs. Am I wrong assuming that CDCs website includes all test results?

He hasn't gone through sensitivity & compassion training yet.

I don't go there but it is the largest single referral base for my practice, making up 15% off all patients.. I'm not biting the hand that feeds me... Well fed me until the mandatory shutdown of 2,3 or 8 weeks...

No offense but CNN and NYT started it with their biased news reporting. FOX came as an alternative to people who were sick of the other choices. All the networks are biased.
Fox is the most biased by a million miles, they willfully disregard the facts and truth on the opinion shows like Hannity. They continually claimed the virus was just a Dem weapon against Trump and that it would amount to nothing.
Some of Fox's newscasters are actually pretty objective.
Don't confuse the New York Times or Washington Post with any of these TV shows. These 2 papers are rarely wrong about anything, they are staffed with the best journalists in the world. They are not partisan, they are truth seeking missiles who live to uncover lies, distortions, and misdeeds on either side of the aisle. Trump's entire existence is about lies, distortions, and misdeeds. Therefore he had to concoct "Fake news", which it sounds like you've bought hook line & sinker.
