Confirmation that Gisele tried to get Tom to retire

Yeah I know QM in like, person. I've probably smelled his farts during a football party.

He's a Patriots fan and has been going back to the early 90s when I first got into the internet-side of following the Patriots on a mailing list where I also 'met' Pissah and others.

I don’t disagree that he was a Patriots fan, but he isn’t anymore imo. That’s why he’s trolling this forum with garbage like this, and it’s why he started a thread he wasn’t going to take part in. Defend him all you want, I’ve seen enough of his sh.t to change my opinion of him.

I'd almost agree but after a few years and especially after children, spouses can change some of their outlooks.

That doesn't justify an attempt to go back on what you've always understood. If you change, it's up to you to adjust your new thinking in a way that doesn't require your spouse to do that same, if he/she doesn't wish it.

A 2nd round pick is not next to nothing especially when he would have been a free agent

Yeah but the Second Round has been BB the GM experimental round yes we have hit on Gronk - Jimmy G and some others. But the misses too much to list and the reaches ie...Tavon Wilson and Jordon Richards really hurt.

I can't speak for him, but if I had to guess, QM is probably more logical/analytical about the team's roster and less sentimental than some of us.

I am glad Jimmy is gone and want Brady to retire a Patriot more than I want to secure another decade of success. I don't think QM feels this same way. That doesn't make him a Jimmy fan or a 49er fan, it's a perfectly reasonable position to take.

Quantum was given many opportunities to give a logical and fact based argument for why the Patriots should dump the best player in football for a guy who couldn’t make it through two games when he was needed for four and he didn’t, or couldn’t do it, and he’s been a butthurt little ***** since the trade went down, that’s why he started this thread. He’s a troll imo.

You think CTE is something to joke about? Don't be disingenuous.
I’m not being disingenuous at all. Brady wants to play more football don’t make it out like he is out there playing Russian roulette.

Jimmy helped give Tom and his old team the blueprint to solve the Jags defense. He would have never done that here.

For that I am eternally grateful. Thank you JG.

Wasn't justifying, was explaining how that often happens.
If spouses don't continually work to adjust and adapt, they likely divorce.

I don't believe the reports that said they could get a 1st. It's unprecedented to give up a 1st for a player with 3 years in the league but hardly any playing time. Just have to hope the pick works out. Maybe find the future qb, or another addition that can contribute.

This is the problem with this topic.
People frame it as sentiment vs success and it is not that by any means.
Keeping brady gives the patriots more success than keeping garapollo would have.
We have the best QBs in the nfl and are preparing to win a Sb and by all indications should have 3 more shots.
Then we move on to the next qb.
We do not know if the next qb will be better or worse than garapollo but the combination of brady until he is done plus QBs to be named later is very likely to be the best result for the franchise.

You don’t downgrade you team today on the guess today’s backup may be better than the next guy you being in and develop.

Different people, different relationships

But you don't undercut your acceptance of your spouse's core being, if you accepted it upon marriage.

Yeah that's the hope but that Jimmy made sure the pick wasn't number 34 with all his wins.

From SI's piece on the AFCCG. Feely did not go along

Last spring Brady and his family vacationed with retired kicker Jay Feely, a close friend from their college days at Michigan. This being Brady, Feely prefers not to disclose the locale, but he does share that Brady’s wife, the supermodel Gisele Bündchen, spent time on that trip “trying to get me to convince [Tom] to stop playing.” And, Feely adds, “she was dead serious.”

Feely says he looked at his friend and told him, “Play as long as you can.” Brady smiled back and winked.

“For years he wanted to prove he belonged in this league,” Feely says. “He won three Super Bowls and still used perceived slights to motivate himself. And he’s still finding ways to motivate himself.”

He needs to file for a divorce or at least a temporary legal separation for say....5 years or so. problem solved.

That's pretty much what /every/ NFL player is doing.

So you think Quantum started this thread as a public service announcement to tell everyone what we already knew?

I doubt gisele will let jay feely come on any more family vacations...
I doubt TB will either. That's private stuff between a husband and wife, to which only a handful of people are privy. Feely violated that trust. Just speaking for myself, I'd never trust him again if I were either one of them.

That type of pressure from a spouse, in a normal relationship, typically does result in a compromise.

I have no idea what these billionaire mega star couples are like but the woman genuinely seems to love him and I can't fault her for saying it's probably time.

Between this and the other stuff she's said I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he retires a few years before he would have otherwise but it'll be impossible for us to know.
We've been in the "this is just gravy" years with Brady for a while now. I'll be OK with any decision he makes, unless it's to retire within the next 12 days.

That's pretty much what /every/ NFL player is doing.
That just isn’t true unless everyone who drives a car, works construction, drinks alcohol, walks into a dangerous neighborhood, leaves their house most days us playing Russian roulette.
