From SI's piece on the AFCCG. Feely did not go along

Last spring Brady and his family vacationed with retired kicker Jay Feely, a close friend from their college days at Michigan. This being Brady, Feely prefers not to disclose the locale, but he does share that Brady’s wife, the supermodel Gisele Bündchen, spent time on that trip “trying to get me to convince [Tom] to stop playing.” And, Feely adds, “she was dead serious.”

Feely says he looked at his friend and told him, “Play as long as you can.” Brady smiled back and winked.

“For years he wanted to prove he belonged in this league,” Feely says. “He won three Super Bowls and still used perceived slights to motivate himself. And he’s still finding ways to motivate himself.”

I wish she wouldn’t do this. I understand it that she wants him to roll on out before it ends badly but man this is different. He should be allowed to and supported on playing to 45. Perhaps it’s greed on my part but to be honest when this guy plays, he is in his element and where he wants to be. He’s not doing this for money solely, he gets paid yes and that’s part but he’s probably play anyways. What we are seeing is something that will not happen again, leave Tom alone and just let him do this. Who trains like that if they aren’t a true lover of the game and competition? He will retire when the time cones

Gisele, please...

She said it on national TV, it’s no surprise. And it’s no surprise he said he’s playing to 45, and he’ll do it. I’m starting to believe Belichick and Brady will make it to 10 Super Bowl’s. I think he’s going 4 more seasons and they can at least reach it for two. However I think the league as a whole is going to improve over the next two seasons so winningnit all will only get tougher.

Part of me has to chuckle when I consider a universe in which Tom retires this year and the team turns to Brian Hoyer as the starting QB. I like Hoyer well enough, but man, that's a hell of a drop-off.

Alex smith is going to be available, he'd be a decent stopgap.

He won’t retire this year. Maybe in 2020 but that’s about the soonest I see it.

It's only Tuesday. There will be other dramas and scandals surfacing. It's as predictable as the November surprise in every presidential election for the last hundred years. Tamasshole, ESPN, CNN and all the othwr usual suspects are no doubt ready advance any contrived story from the their unnamed sources. Tick, tick, tick, tick.

This is not a surprise. We know she wants him to quit. She wants to see him walk and not suck his food thru a straw when he is 60.

As much as I'd like her to leave him alone, it's between them
