Sigh.........

Ah well, good season. Vernon Barkley gets my vote for team MVP.

Sorry I couldn't salvage the running game guys, I really don't know what to do. I made some changes that I think had a significantly positive impact on the passing game but I just couldn't fix our running game.

D was solid as ever and definitely carried us through the playoffs as far as they could.

Respect knuckles all around.

We were really 2 points from a possible championship season if you consider that it would have given us the win in game 1 and homefield advantage for this game. On our turf I think we win. But props to Canberra, they overcame a lot.

Great season guys - we got better and really came into our own as one of the top teams. I'm sure we can find ways to improve for next season. I can't wait.

How will we go about re-signing players for next season? Benjamin Walters' contract expires on day 3.

Just put up a request on the contract thread in the team forum, and we'll take care of it.

To say our defense collapsed would be a little bit of an exaggeration.

On the first TD that they scored in the fourth, they started past midfield. On the other, this happened: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?pbp_id=5197293

Either way, holding Canberra to 19 is by no means a collapse, and the fourth quarter was one fluke play and getting poor field position. Just chalking it up to the defense not holding its ground is a simplistic approach, but definitely not accurate. Pretty much everyone played a part in giving that game away.

Well then according to your definiton, the Giants game winning TD drive in the 4th quarter of the Superbowl was not a defensive collapse because Tyree's catch was a "fluke". Either way all those points given up in the 4th quarter add up to a loss. I'm certainly not pinning the loss all on the defense, but I'm not gonna sugarcoat what happened either.

I'm sure every player and our management are going to work to get better for next season and I'm sure we'd love to add more solid players where possible. If you have any or know any let everybody know.

Also, it's such a competitive division that the margins of victory are so thin that we very easily could have won the game. We were so close and had such a good season that I think we should be proud.

I'm saying that identifying one area that was the major contribution to the loss is just dumb, because it was a collective, team loss. To go with the Giants analogy: the defense didn't lose that game; everyone did. We collapsed in every conceivable way in the fourth quarter. The offense got shut out, and the defense didn't play to its usual standards. One could just as easily call it an offensive collapse as a defensive collapse, but the fact of the matter is that it was just an overall collapse from every angle, which shows pretty conclusively that we need to improve our depth if we want to stay competitive. Focusing on any one unit is beside the point, especially when the defense played excellently (5 interceptions) to give us the lead that we ended up squandering in the first place.

I'm not pointing fingers, but it seemed like the punter had a tough game? Lots of 22-23 yard punts! Some were on their end of the field, but could it be an energy/stamina issue with him?

Last three games:

Punts/Average
6/ 32.3
7/ 31
11/ 27.2

Blame the punter. That's something I can get on board with.

I don't know Tobias, I'm kind of thinking it's the FS's fault. Or Brady's. Or that darn article about us monitoring other teams' message boards.

First off, I should clarify that I'm not even close to an authority on player builds. These are just my thoughts on some ongoing training focuses for player builds, and where we might improve:

Defense in general: We need more stamina. That should improve our ST.
Offensive line: a few more points in speed might help with outside run, so you guys can get out there and throw blocks for Maroney.
Defensive Line: I keep hearing that putting points in blocking makes it harder to block you. Apparently, this is coming straight from the devs, so there might be something to it. I have Tank training it right now.
Secondary: Between the Emerald City and Brisbane games, I put 3 points into Sticky Hands for Pietro. After not having an interception all season, he had 2 in the following 2 games. Clearly, sticky hands seems to give a major boost.
Linebackers: I have no real input here. Any suggestions?

Boosting strategy: Last season, a few of us boosted on day 1 (I know Tobias did, as did all 3 of my players and at least a couple others). As the season went on, I think that that hurt us, as we started seeing teams with level 19-20s, and we didn't have any ourselves. As a result, I'm going to be staggering my boosting throughout the season next year, and I recommend that everyone else do the same, if possible. We might drop a game or two early, but it's how you finish that matters.

Secondary: More agility across the board. If your agility is high enough, you can play tight coverage with less risk, and avoid giving up repeated 5-7 yard passes.

D-Tackles- Tank will be investing major points into break through next season. I want him stopping runs behind the LOS on a regular basis.
DEs: Need to be better in run support. Kazenzakis was terrible in that regard this year, to the point that Pietro got a lot of his tackles by covering for Kazenzakis by getting the tackles on pitches.

WRs: If we're going to be run-heavy in the future, we may want to think about having the WRs invest a bit in blocking, to free up Maroney for outside runs.

Any input on TEs? We have 1 blocking and 1 receiving, though both are pretty well balanced. One thing I keep reading about is the importance of vision so I'll be putting points into it next level or two.

And I'm with you on the boosting. I plan on boosting once at around my next level up and then saving the rest for the playoffs unless it'd help the team to do it at some important point in the season.

I don't really know anything about TEs, but I'll keep my eyes open and pass any useful information that I come across along.

If we were going to lose anyways I wish we had lost last game so we would have had one of those scrimmage games that don't matter.

Vernon Barkley as QB
Punty McBoot as RB
Pio Sagapoutele at WR
Etc.

Well anyways we've got 9k new seats being built in the offseason which should translate into season ticket sales. We can also add sheesh...another 10k or so after that I believe, to these new sections.

Then after that it's going to start getting tough because each new section costs 2.5m+ to build and our season ticket sales aren't going to cover all that. Hopefully we can stay ahead of contracts enough to keep everyone training.

Hopefully training won't become a major issue, since realistically, at least if you're starting, there aren't really any opportunities to train on intense anyways. $2.5M is pretty steep for upgrades, though. How do ticket sales work as the players level up? Are people willing to pay proportionately more to see more talented players?

I train on relaxed, at the most, and my $$$ are slowly building up. I'll be good at this contract level for a long while, I think, as are most people.

I'll be putting 2 points per level or so into STA I think, though even on ST, I never dropped below 66ish or so.

Thats a tough loss, to a very good team.

good game everyone

dont blame the punter, read the tough loss thread in the team forum (on goalline)

i would put most of the blame on the D, with focus on the secondary, for giving up the game winning catch

p.s. who wants to take a guess at how long cason's arms are?
