Wow. We got dropped to 4th place by losing.

Which I don't understand because we beat Strike.

****. Since there was a 3 way tie for second place, it went to overall points scored (we beat canberra, canberra beat newcastle, newcastle beat us), and we had the fewest points scored of the 14-2 teams. Not really sure why points scored is the second tiebreaker, that's ******ed.
Either way, we should have won the game, but they returned a punt and an int for touchdowns.

Autopsy:

Our biggest problem was fatigue, IMO. We were winning 17-0, then the turnovers kicked in.

If not for Barkley's 3 interceptions, we wouldn't have even been in this game.

Going forward, we need to figure out whta the deal with turnovers is, and fix it asap, because if we lose in the playoffs, it will almost certainly be because of this problem.

There are a couple of reasons why energy would be a problem, first and foremost being the the following inactives have less than 70 energy:
Logan Manchild
Smug Deed
Rod Harryson

The following characters have under 64 energy, which means that even on +18/+18, they won't get to 100 energy for the playoffs:
Mosi Tatupu
Logan Manchild
Smug Deed
Stanley Steamer
Wesley Welker
Vernon Barkley
Rod Harryson

All of you should definitely go +18/+18 until you're at 100 energy

We have a LOT of people between 65 and 70 energy- each of you should probably go +18/+18 or +18/+15, since we need you all to be at 100% for the playoffs (unless the playoffs are more than 2 days away).

We really need to do something, though, to figure out how we're going to keep our energy from getting back down to here. Some ideas:

1. The rotation that I spoke of earlier for ST might be necessary.
2. We might want to consider subbing in a new KR/PR for the next game to help Barkley get rested up and continue to dominate at CB. Cason has a point in return spec, so maybe he can take it over for a game, if he goes +18/+18 for the next couple days to get up to 100% energy. He's definitely got the stamina to pull that and backup CB duties.
3. We need more offensive line depth, though we can't address that until next season. 4 of our 8 offensive linemen are inactive right now, which obviously isn't a good thing.
4. Our defense is gassed. Our DL is doing fine, but every LB and secondary starter is at 72 energy or less.
5. Tom Brady Jr. is extremely important to our offense. We outscored them 27-3 when he was playing, with 0 interceptions. When he was on the bench, we had 3 interceptions, one returned for a TD. Not sure how we can fix this, but in close games we need, if possible, to have Brady playing as much as humanly possible.

Yeah, I actually like that loss. We got burned on two bad plays, but we actually outplayed them pretty well the rest of the way. I'm happy it was in the regular season and not in the playoffs.

Now we just have to clamp down and fix our mistakes.

Bummer about the loss... quick question, how much XP will I gain on normal training intensity? I'm currently at 972 and if I get 28 in training I can move up to Level 16 (Ronald Pancake).

Training intensity doesn't affect how much XP you get from the daily training unless you have it set to NONE. Then you get 18 energy and no XP. Otherwise, you get whatever you've been getting at your current level.

We can't sit Brady Jr. during the playoffs. No way.

Yeah, no offense to Tommy Bee, but Brady Jr. is necessary for our offense to function. At the very least, if possible we need to run the ball when he does sit.

Also, are players done getting experience for the rest of the season? If so, that sucks, because Maximoff has only 90 exp to go until 18.

As for liking this loss, I can't say that I do. It was the difference between HFA and finishing fourth in our division. We needed the money. So how will the playoffs work? I assume we play #5 in the first round, which is the Emerald City Flying Monkeys. They're a pretty good team, but their secondary sucks, so with a lot of passing, we should win.

Assuming we win that game, it looks like we're going to Brisbane for a rematch with the Bandits. If we win that, we'd go to the Alpha finals (most likely against Canberra or Newcastle), and if we win that we'd play the winner of the Zeta conference.

Thats my plan 18/18.

What a tough loss - I hate losing due to turnovers.

As long as you don't set it to none, training will get you 45 experience at level 15, so you should be fine.

I thought the starters performed pretty well. It's the turnovers that killed us this game. Fumbles and interceptions lead to easier points for the other team. Against a good team like canberra, those extra possessions will kill you.

As for the energy issue, this is the lowest Steamer's energy has been all season, and he has been training on relaxed lately too, so I don't know what caused it except he was in 80+ plays this game which is unusually high.
I'm going to put training on none so I can regain 18 energy per day. We don't get xp for training for the playoffs anyways do we?

BradyFTW, I don't mean I like losing... I just mean that if we have to lose, I like that it is now and not our next game. I still don't understand why points scored is the 2nd tiebreaker, but it is what it is.

As far as HFA, we had to sweep all three games to get it. Did you expect it to happen before we played the Bandits? It sucks but at least we have one home game.

Also it is not the end of XP. It is the end of GAME XP, but not nightly XP. So there will be some levelling during the playoffs.

Also I have been doing some reading and I think it might be good if I was switched with Brandon Weather, so he plays his natural SS position, while I take over at FS for the playoffs. People have said that if you don't have a FS, it's better to have your faster and more coverage geared SS in that slot.

Brandon Weather should also make sure he is set to Wrap Up, Close, Medium for Advanced Tactics.

I don't even understand what happened in that game with regards to stamina.

We were running the ball well, for example, then my guy Maroney went like a quarter without seeing the field. I'm happy to see other people get carries but not when we're not way ahead. We also had Brady Jr. on the bench way too much. I'm not sure why either.

I've disabled all the auto-subbing stuff a couple games ago so I don't get it.

Ugh, I hate having the season book-ended with losses.

I like the idea of switching Funke and Weather.

SIGH, we needed that money too.

Well...one thing we can be proud of -

Our 2 losses were a combined 5 points.

That is a sucky loss, especially after those 2 big wins. But winning on the road is tough, and we learned some things from this game.

Some observations:

1) Offense played a lot of snaps. Benjamin Walter got 85 plays in and is down to 65 energy. The last 2 games he has at around 55 snaps and only losing around 24 energy.

2) I saw a LOT of double and triple coverage on the TE. I was really surprised. I can't say what effect it had on the outcome of the game, but Walter probably won't be able to beat that kind of coverage since he's more of a blocking tight end with some receiving thrown in there to balance him out. Deed might be able to (I can't see his build stats but he had more receptions that Walter tonight for relatively short yardage), so we may want to get him in a position where he can take more snaps against teams likely to employ these tactics, including going heavy nickel and doubling the TE.

3) Those turnovers really killed us. The almost 2 in a row INTs really affected our field position and the TD, of course, is the difference in the game (just on points).

That said, let's get everybody rested and ready for the playoffs. We should have won this game, and we've shown that we can hang with anybody so the playoffs should be really exciting!

i dont think that a bad idea...

but will it affect stamina? which will affect game performance in the playoffs?

maybe we wait until after the postseason?

and ill check my tactics...they are quite similar to those

ps. i hate this loss too

if we play em again, we murder them....we had almost 2x their total net yards...
