Celtics trade Isaiah Thomas, Brooklyn 2018 pick & players for Kyrie Irving

they were fine before the deal was announced.....so why wouldn't they.......neither Thomas nor Crowder would gripe about coming back......this wasn't a dump those guys thing....it was get an Irving thing.....if Thomas wants to ruin his chances at a max deal or anything close, he could go off and sulk somewhere......and Crowder is just not the sort

I'm reading the situation differently.

Anytime a player is traded and pulled back there is potential for angst.

Crowder is a pro no question. However now there is Hayward, Brown and Tatum grabbing his minutes. If hes ok with that situation then god love him for being that kind of player. He was all Mr. Sensitive when fans were chanting Hayward's name so....

I think with IT, he now knows with absolute certainty Danny does not view him as a max player. Based on reports IT was hurt and pretty upset at the trade. Some players as you imply can go about their business and stay focused on what they need to do in order to see the $$. It remains to be seen if IT is that player or kind of person

pissin and moanin while recovering from an injury has never helped anyone

besides, our situation stands to be much less pissy than

the deal falling apart is no way ideal, but the celts appear to be the less affected......can't underestimate the value of the 'missing piece' the draft pick.....thomas was really just salary filler and can't lose touch with that

I'm not a doctor or a lawyer but CLE has a lot of wiggle room here. All they have to say is our doctors disagree with your doctors and void the trade, if that's how they want to play it. Danny should call their bluff. He's already paid a lot for Kyrie. This trade will show Danny is serious about making a deal and there's always the trade deadline.

I don't think the NBA can do anything when the trade has a built in medical approval, but if CLE is using it to try to get more, the rest of the league should just refuse to trade with them going forward.
They can call off the trade. If they do, they're ****ed.

Crowder can be moved easily at any time. His contract makes him eminently tradeable.

Danny should sweeten the deal and throw in the Celtics' 2020 and 2022 3rd round draft choices, in the event that the NBA adds a 3rd round to the draft.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the C's throw in one of their own 1st round picks over the next 2-3 years with top 5 or 10 protections on it, or offer CLE the chance to swap picks once over some time period if they really need to add sweetener to save the deal.

I wouldn't be surprised either, but they shouldn't do it. Kyrie isn't anywhere near as good as the 'top 5 player in the league!' folks in this thread would have you believe. Even as is, the trade is already defensible but hardly a slam dunk; start throwing in first rounders on top of that and it becomes a bad deal in a hurry.

It's going to be awfully funny seeing all the backtracking from posters in this thread if the deal falls through and suddenly they pretend they never claimed Kyrie's an MVP-caliber player.

Agreed, Crowder's contract is one of the best in the league for what he does. He's a wing who reliably hits open 3s and whose defense is somewhere between adequate (this past season) and very good (prior seasons). That alone is an asset, but at $7-8M per season it's an absolute steal. If he was a FA last offseason he'd get 50% above and beyond that at a bare minimum.

Most NBA experts agree.

Going to need a source on that. I'm intensely skeptical that you can find even one NBA expert who believes that Kyrie Irving is a top 5 player in the NBA, let alone most of them.

Who's doing that? Kyrie would make a great addition to the Celtics. I'd love to see what he could do in Brad's motion offense.

I strongly suspect the deal goes through and I seriously doubt the Celtics add anything significant to what's been offered already.

If, by some chance, the deal falls through, no big deal. I'm happy to get Nets 18 back.

I really, really hope that the Cadavers void the trade, and that the league allows them to void the trade.

Because the is NO FECKIN WAY that I would've included Crooklyn''s 2018 1st-rounder in it.

They should wait until zero hour on the deadline and then refuse to offer anything extra.
The so-called "deadline" can be extended if that's what the 2 teams decide. Just another example of the beauty of the NBA.

Cleveland is attempting extortion. Even a used car dealer doesn't pull things like this
Right, because we've never seen any situations where doctors had slightly different timetables or opinions on the potential of an injury to heal.

PR...the Cavs are getting heat from their fans. They are asking for more but will get nothing close to their price. If they negate the deal they have a major problem this season AND next. I'd say the deal is the deal more or less.

This whole thing is bullshyt, trying to "shake down" the Celtics will probably not work..

It is difficult to go back and welcome players back into the fold after they have been let go..

I really like Danny working out Thomas Robinson. They'll take rebounding and front court athleticism any way they can get it .

I support the trade but he might not be in the top 10.

In no order...

LBJ
Steph
KD
Kawhi
Harden
Westbrook
Ant Davis
DeRozen
Wall
KAT

Yeah, I don't think ANYONE would pick Kyrie over Lebron, Kawhi, Curry, Durant, Anthony Davis, Harden, Westbrook and the Greek Freak, who is just going to explode this year and become one of the most dominant players. That's 8 right there. Lebron is the only one over 30.

Thing is, none of those players were available for trade.
