Celtics trade Isaiah Thomas, Brooklyn 2018 pick & players for Kyrie Irving

What if some other team offered a better package and Cleveland is having second thoughts and using the hip issue as an escuse ? A deal is a deal.

They have until Thursday I believe to void the trade if they want. So if Cleveland had a better option they could void the trade and move Kyrie somewhere else. I believe that's the case anyway.

If Danny agrees to this....

I will have to get personally involved.

No way Danny won't. The Celtics traded away there Star NBA all star leader.. and a potential lottery pick. Another NBA caliber player in Crowder and a young big man.

If he trades away Brown or Tatum... void void void the trade. The trade is already questionable.

IT loves Boston, he is also a class act for the most part. There is a short video of him being questioned by reporters and he is genuinely sad to leave Boston.

Time to find out whether the NBA has a Commissioner or another Goodell. These shenanigans that Cleveland is trying to pull should be punished and not rewarded, and even nulling the trade over this would be a reward for Cleveland. You mean the guy who had to leave a playoff series because of hip problems has hip problems? YOU DON'T SAY?!

I have no idea what the Commissioner's powers are in this case, but if the Celtics shared Thomas' medicals with the Cavs, the Cavs should not be able to back out of the deal. Deflategate has conditioned me to expect that this will not go the Celtics' way, but hopefully Silver a better man than Goodell.

Yeah, I don't get how people argue that Ainge "blew it" by not trading for George. Since he declared that he wants to play for LAL after next year, he became essentially worthless.
and its not dannys fault that the indiana gm took so much less from the thunder.

IT is a Celtic thru and thru.

Damn shame he needs to spend a season in that hell hole.

The Crooklyn pick should've been a deal-ender, and now the LeBrons want MORE?!? If Danny had even half a brain, he should've told them to Feck Off the first time. If he gives them ANYTHING more, then he doesn't even have a quarter of a brain.

the owner has his finger prints all over the Kyrie trade. he was on local radio. he said that he helped the trade. translation. he made the choice to make the trade. not Danny. and it makes perfect sense. he got impatient. he didn't like what happened with the Paul George trade and he wasn't going to let it happen again. if the trade does go thru it's far too early to really judge the trade accurately. it depends on what the pick ends up being. and it depends on if Kyrie resigns with the Celtics in two years. your hate for Danny Ainge really is strange considering how the team has been transformed in such a short period of time. you ignore all the great moves and jump on anything to criticize him. he has done an unbelievable job with the Celtics. you sound like a idiot.

A lot less criminal behavior off field in the NBA. Don't know if you really want to compare the two for professionalism.

Just one of the reasons why the NFL should throw in the towel like the NBA and allow its players to smoke weed. There would be way less criminal cases.

Fnord is right, though. The NBA is amateur hour.

I'm not a doctor or a lawyer but CLE has a lot of wiggle room here. All they have to say is our doctors disagree with your doctors and void the trade, if that's how they want to play it. Danny should call their bluff. He's already paid a lot for Kyrie. This trade will show Danny is serious about making a deal and there's always the trade deadline.

I don't think the NBA can do anything when the trade has a built in medical approval, but if CLE is using it to try to get more, the rest of the league should just refuse to trade with them going forward.

yup. If Cleveland keeps this garbage up and cancels the deal, they are screwing themselves over.

Their rookie GM will look like a fool and someone you dont want to make deals with.

They will be stuck with an already disgruntled Irving who now has to go back to Cleveland when he thought he was free of them.

1+2 = disaster for a GM who still has to find another deal for Irving. You can bet the best offers he gets will be far below what he was getting originally. Teams can smell the blood in the water in Cleveland. The worst kept secret in basketball is Lebron to the Lakers next offseason

lol.......Thomas was just a throw in to make salaries match......it's the pick the Cavs supposedly wanted.....

the Celts should just not respond and if the Cavs bag the trade, then so be it.....everybody in the world knew about thomas' hip......it was a known going into the trade.....

They should wait until zero hour on the deadline and then refuse to offer anything extra.

The Cavs need this deal more than the Celtics do.

The question is do the Cavs still have the MIL deal as a fall back.

That's because the NFL has 5 times more players.

Yeah, the Cavs can go back and tell their fans that they blew it on the Nets pick but they now have Khris Middleton and another pick somewhere in the 20's next year. That should ease the pain of Lebron in LAL.

We are talking about Cleveland. Their fanbase won't know the difference.
