You may be right. I’m not sure myself. But one thing is clear enough. The season will be a complete mess. The outbreaks aren’t going to stop with the current protocol (or lack thereof). The Pats game getting postponed a week caused a ton of schedule changes for multiple teams. Imagine how much of a head ache it will be when we get another few teams who have Covid cases. And there aren’t double headers the NFL can play. That an advantage the MLB had.
Mike Lombardi said on WEEI last week that the league has already booked hotels in Tampa through the entire month of February. So clearly, they're aware the season is likely going to get moved back.

With the greatest respect, comments as such irk me. Football is a mammoth industry, one which would support hundreds of thousands of jobs. When people say it's just a game, IMO, they're not thinking beyond the professional realm and by omission, discount the thousands of families depending on the sport to put food on the table. We've had nowhere near the COVID issues as around the world in Australia but left, right and center, people involved in top line sport are being laid off by the thousands because of the financial repercussions this scourge has unleashed.

Sport is and always will be more than a just a game phenomena. As for COVID and this specific game, I have my own thoughts on that but I'll choose not to get political.
Yeah, the pandemic has created economic pressures. We have economic pressures because games--that's what they are--are cancelled. We have live theater and music casualties too. Etc. There are just some things it's medically wrong to do right now (more so here than down there, as I understand it, unless you guys spiked). The flight attendants and pilots are going to see hard times too. Etc. Many of those suffering job losses have work connected to those industries. There are many others suffering too, and many, many more who will suffer, if/when government supports are kicked out for the long term.

Point is, it is just a game, though to your point, we've created an industry around the game, or the play, or the concert. We crave entertainment, and we'll always crave it. But, quite literally, we'll live without it. One can't insist that people have more fun because of these job losses, if having fun might kill grandma.

I am sorry, I get that people's living depended on all these entertainment forms. The poor actors can't even just go wait tables anymore. Thing is, neither can the poor waiters.

Not good, all the way around... and we're still just starting what in this country seems to be a planned doubling in loss of life by January.

You know, the power of positive thinking.

We don't need to do that since he's no longer able to defend himself. But I don't understand the hostility and what he was that angry about. I guess if he's that unhappy with whatever it is I apparently did, maybe this isn't somewhere that's good for him to be if it's going to just frustrate him that much. So, as a result, I wish him the best.

Otherwise, we're on to Denver.

sometimes I get irrationally upset about things that don’t make sense like those smug weirdos putting peanut butter on Eggo waffles. That’s the reason there are so many Tim Hortons up in Canada I bet.

Hmm, I’ve never heard of putting peanut butter on Eggos. You say it’s good, something I should try?

The NHL and the NBA figured this out. Unfortunately, the NFL is being run by:

Especially when its one of the teams that already had its schedule altered.

If the NFL was smart they would have added say 2 more bye weeks for every team from the beginning to try and address this.

sounds like Gilmore tested twice negative.

Maybe. Or maybe he’s just saying he’s psychologically ready (in a “can’t wait“ manner). The good news I can take away from this though is that it likely implies Gilmore is asymptomatic like Newton.

Interesting post by Glazer via Mark Daniels. Looks like Cam isn't out of the woods yet:

You can test positive for weeks and weeks. The problem is that PCR tests for viral genetic material, whether or not there's infectious virus in you, and even when there's no longer any living virus in you (or not enough to make you contagious) there are still detectable viral fragments in you.

That's why more and more places (with health agency support) are saying that once you're totally asymptomatic for at least 10 days after a positive test there's no point in getting tested again and you can go back to work/come out of isolation.

Highly doubtful. They said the same about baseball

you can go through an entire baseball game where the closes contact is guys running by fielders along the bases.....no pile of players breathing at each other

baseball is a very different sport if you haven’t noticed

We’re not getting into how contagious/deadly it is. Some people are asymptomatic, which is what they’ve said all week about Newton. Doesn’t change the fact the next person might not be. Provided he’s not contagious, he might be ready to come back. But the league is simply being cautious because there’s too much at stake and truthfully, it’s just a football game so there’s no reason to rush it and take an unnecessary risk.
We seem to ignore the long-term effects of Covid, especially in those who have pre-conditions like infections, heart issues or obesity.

The way I look at it, I don't see how the league can avoid not adding weeks to the schedule. There are now 6 teams that do not have anymore byes; Pats, Titans, Steelers, Packers, Lions and Broncos. There isn't much the league can do with their schedules moving forward. If any of them have a flare up of positives, the league has to either let them play, or add a week to their schedule. Next week, you can add 4 more teams to the list, Saints, Seahawks, Raiders and Chargers. Those ten teams have had their byes, and can't give the league any flexibility to juggle their schedules

Can’t wait till Goodell reshuffles the schedule and tries to put us on TNF after a Monday game.

The biggest beneficiaries of the rescheduling of games are the Chiefs and Bills that will no longer have a TNF game (1st TNF doesn't count). Those TNF games are tough regardless of opponent. This is a huge competitive advantage for both those teams and to KC against the Bills.

KC went from:
Oct-11 (S) vs LV
Oct-15 (TH) to Oct-19 (M) @ BUF
Oct-25 (S) @ DEN

BUF went from:
Oct-11 (S) to Oct-13 (Tu) @ TEN
Oct-15 (TH) to Oct-19 (M) vs KC
Oct-25 (S) @ NYJ

They also benefitted from forcing NE to play them last M. How convenient for KC.

Denver’s Gordon busted for a DUI, will still play unless the team benches him.
