Brady Loss Depression

Going through the stages of grief is difficult.

considering one question does help me:

Would the team really be better for 2020 and the future if we paid Brady $50M guaranteed over the next 2 years, probably playing this season Thuney, the McCourty's and Slater? Add that the patriots would be playing behind a coach who didn't want to keep Brady (as was the case in 2018 and 2019).

How much better would we be in 2020, 2021, and 2022?

We need to forgive Belichick for making a decision that he thinks is in the best interests of the team. Then perhaps, we can move on.

Yes we would be better. Yes we would be better in 2020 if we had Tom Frickin Brady and had Next Man Up for Guard (Froholdt/Cajuste?) or Safety. This is not even close to up for debate. How are we comparing paying $25m for Tom Brady being worse for the team than paying $13 for Thuney and $12 for DMac. It's not even in the same galaxy. It's clearly better for the team.

Tom was kicked out because BB deemed it so and Kraft folded like a wet rag. That's it. We pushed him out. BB was annoyed at Tom not showing at OTAs, acting a bit more diva after........ you know........ making it to 9 frickin SBs and winning 6. Complaining about WR/TE talent and offense production etc. BB decided to kick him out. I will never forgive BB for this. Fck him and Fck Kraft for not taking a stand and telling BB we're bringing Tom back like he did with JG as well when BB was ready to move on from TB for JG. Tom went to 3 straight SBs after that, winning 2.

Yes, I agree with you that we would be better off in 2020 with Brady at QB, but Belichick wanted to take it year to year and Tom did not. I think that some other factors came into play that stemmed from that, but the commitment problem seemed to be the biggest issue from where I’m standing.

Kraft may have stepped aside in order to give the decision making power to Belichick, but that’s because he’s smart and knows how valuable he is. I’d much rather sacrifice a year or two of Brady than lose Belichick.

Gee...thanks for the info, Revoltapek...never thought of the Mayan sacrifice angle...

@Biffins
I don’t want to be 10-6 with a first round exit “better.”
I want back in the SB conversation.
The 2020 Patriots with Tom Brady would lose to TEN, BAL, and KC.
Mediocrity can be achieved on the way down or on the way up. I’d rather do it on the way up.

Do you believe in life after Tom
I can feel something inside me saying
I really don't think you all get this now

Maybe Brady knew his time in NE was coming to an end after seeing Stidham's play for a year. He might have figured he needed to make a move now or risk not getting anything more than a one year deal next year from another team. He was was afraid of that back in 2017 when Jimmy was on the team...even more now I suspect.

What's to be depressed about? Maybe the future is brighter now...if and when they play another game.

@PatsFanInVa

They say
Tom Brady’s taking his talents to Tampa Bay
Is that true?
I wasn't aware that was something a person could do
I'm perplexed
Are they gonna keep on replacing whoever's in charge?
If so, who's next?
There's nobody else in New England who looms quite as large

Jarrett Stidham?
I know him
That can't be
That's that little guy who spoke to me
At the draft combine
What was it, twenty nineteen?
That poor boy, they're gonna eat him alive
Mahomes will rise
Divisions will fall
Next to Brady, they all look small
All alone
Watch them run
They will tear each other into pieces
************, this will be fun

Da da da dat da dat da da da da ya da
Da da da dat dat da ya da

Quarterback Jarrett Stidham
Good Luck

With lots more time on my hand I watched a replay on YouTube of a Thanksgiving day game against Detroit in about 2012 or so.

While I enjoyed watching the game it got me somewhat depressed, just thinking how can the Pats let Tom Brady close out his legendary career in another uniform. He deserved that 2 year extension.

That this post hasn't been deleted just shows how awful Ian's priorities are.

That's complete and utter bs.

Yeah, I’m totally making this just about me. Hit the nail on the head there, Private.

“Many doctors and nurses who work in ER and ICUs are doing the same.”

“Here’s a message from the two of us and all doctors, nurses, nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, respiratory therapists and hospital ancillary staff”

“but haven’t donated to a local hospital. How about your family and friends? If you do maybe it’s time to do the right thing.”

What am I doing at home posting on this site?
Like many across the country, I am stuck at home far more often than I want to be. I am not seeing patients in the office and cannot do (and should not be doing) elective procedures, so as not to contribute to the spread of the virus. I still go to the hospital when I am on call for my specialty and when emergency procedures necessary. The cases that I perform are some of the highest risk for transmission of the virus. I am self-employed and have stopped taking a salary so that my staff can continue to be paid in full, along with their benefits. I am still seeing patients from home using telemedicine. I am fully aware that my wife and I are far luckier than others financially and can weather this storm in the short term, but that doesn’t mean that it is not stressful to have a $15,000 bill to pay for overhead every month with virtually no money coming in. Trust me, I would love to be the one going into work in the areas of highest exposure, if it would mean that my wife could stay home but that is not how medical specialties work.

It is interesting that you list “make money” first when talking about why I may have gone into medicine. It reveals your bias about doctors, that we choose our profession because of money. It also reveals your ignorance. I could say that you chose to go into the military and now work on the border because you are not smart enough or did not work hard enough in school, so your options were limited, that would also be ignorant and unfair. The fact is that many doctors could have made made a lot more money and simultaneously have had an easier lifestyle, with less training and without the medical school debts, not to mention the constant risk of frivolous lawsuits. There are some doctors who are money hungry and do abuse the system for their financial gain but that is a very small percentage. Five years ago I resigned from the medical staff of a hospital out of protest because administration refused to get ride of a physician who was practicing poor quality, unethical medicine. That decision probably cost me a minimum of $100,000 due to disruption of my practice.....so to answer your question, no, I did not go into medicine because of money.

As for your question about empathy, I have an abundance of it. I have empathy for those who are sick or who have died from this terrible virus, for their family members and close friends, for the healthcare workers putting their lives at risk and whose government is failing to protect them and for those who have lost their jobs and are struggling to pay their bills. That means that I have no empathy left over for someone who can’t stop talking about how tragic it is that we lost our aging, declining quarterback.

“Having been in actual combat/war”.....Do you actually believe that you have to hold a gun in order to be an actual combat/war? If you do then you really are a meathead.View attachment 26563
This came by email today. You don’t think that the people working in those ERs and ICUs in New York City are at war? There is no difference between what is going on in those hospitals and what you consider to be “actual combat”. There is no difference between a nurse or physician being exposed to an infected patient without access to the proper protective equipment and a soldier going into battle without his/her protective equipment. I/we (physicians) would never minimize the risk that that those in the military face and the sacrifices that they make, so you should be ashamed if you do the same for healthcare workers.

“This temporary event (this is not the end of days, it is a virus)”. Of all the dumb statements in your post, this is the dumbest, and the most dangerous. You have been listening too much to President Dotard. It shows you don’t have a ****ing clue what is going on right now, probably because you have not been affected by it yet. It sounds like you are still in the “this is overblown” phase or maybe you’re still stuck in the “this is a hoax” phase. If you were younger you probably would’ve been one of those idiots partying on the beach in Florida for spring break, before bringing the infection back to your home community. Wake up, dip sh*t (and any of you who liked his post) before its too late. I’ll tell you a little secret....it may already be too late.

Your bedside manner is so comforting, Doctor.

I saw a post upstream that accused some of us of lamenting the loss of Brady. I don't see it that way. I see us as celebrating his time here instead. He was very special and his accomplishments will never be equaled.

I agree. On the flip side, I see it as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signing a 43-year-old quarterback to somehow be relevant. The Buccaneers only have $130,000 in dead cap money currently on the books, so it is not a ridiculous gamble on their part.

The Patriots, on the other hand, have a roster full of players with Super Bowl hardware at home. If there is any team in the NFL that is in a position to groom a young QB for the future, it is the Patriots. The coaching staff and the veteran leadership in the locker room are a perfect environment for Jarrett Stidham or whomever grabs the wheel before opening day.

I'm excited for the new chapter to begin. In many ways, I have the same excitement about the Patriots as I did after Claude Julian left for Montreal and the Bruins did their makeover. Sure, Chara, Bergeron, Rask and Marchand were still around, but seeing all these young guys who can skate come in to transform the team has been great.

The Patriots 2019 draft class looks great, and they have 12 more picks in just a few weeks to play with. There's no reason to think that six or seven good young players won't arrive on the scene to capture our imagination.

Draft day is only 24 days away.
