Hmmmmmmm

Private school applications are due in December and decision letters are sent in Feb/ Mar.....about the same time Brady decides on whether to play next year or head south to the center of the business world.

Then there’s .....
Conn and NJ mansion prices have been collapsing for many reasons.
The Bundchens have been savy real estate investors
Opportunity presenting itself?

Brady clearly didn’t get what he was looking for. I can’t blame the team for being cautious with a 42 year old.

I don't think I understand the contractual concept of "voidable years".

What is the difference between that and just releasing the player, take the cap hit and move on? See 2015 Revis.

The NEP still have to take the actual action of voiding them? If they chose not to he is paid $30m in 2019, correct?

Yeah this is kinda confusing and there seems to be some disagreement out there on if they can renegotiate before 20 league year. (Seems they can as pointed out above).

After spewing a week's worth of public panic, the MCI refuses to take the L!

I'm not sure of your sourcing, but multiple members of the media have a different take. It will be interesting to see what narrative ends up being dominant.

Why is it such a big deal, surprise, whatever, that at this point, both the team and the player are taking things on a year-by-year basis? It's smart on both ends. Can't wait until Thursday night when the pundits will have something else to talk about.

Can’t wait for this ongoing story ....

So... in standard english, what does this mean?

Brady is playing in New England this year, and he's making $8 million more than he was previously going to.
Brady's deal ends after this season, and has void years for cap purposes.
Brady cannot be franchised or transitioned at the end of the season.
In theory, either Brady or the team can walk away after this year, and there would be a large, but not crazy, cap hit.
In theory, the two sides can still work out deals for Brady staying for another year or more.

Brady’s comments are quite telling. I’ll also take Curran’s word on the situation as he no doubt has sources close to Brady. I have no doubt people on here will use whatever mental gymnastics necessary to spin this as a win win.

Curran was off in his initial reporting about any pending extension, but you're going to take his word as gospel now? Whatever works for you, I guess.

If I have this right, Brady received an $8M raise for this year, and the team got to push some of his compensation into 2020 and/or 2021.

The 2020 salary seems to be basically irrelevant, or at best a starting point for negotiations.
No one is committed to the $30M for 2020.

Nothing was decided for 2020, except that the team can't franchise or transition Brady.

Some contract details from Breer - generally lines up with what was already deduced:
