Chicago needs more than QB/coach but which team doesnt?
If I was the Bears GM sign Josh, trade for Jimmy, Jefferies white miller and Langford is the base of a decent offense which is all I was really saying. Use the rest of your picks to shore up the defense and offensive line. Get competitive in another year or two cleaning house and getting solid vets in FA who buy in for cheap. By "make some noise" I meant 7-9 to playoff contender not 14-2 Super Bowl contender

Maybe I'm daft, but I feel like a Jaguars team headed by McDaniels with Jimmy G at QB running Josh's offense would wipe the floor with that division...

They interviewed Coughlin yesterday and, supposedly, there is mutual interest. I think Coughlin comes back.

That basically would seal Mcdaniels to the Rams

I hope not I hope he goes thanks but no thanks.
What other jobs are avaiable!
If Bowles, Lynn Fox Coughlin are in place?
That makes the Rams Job the best one available.
Unless Cincy, Green Bay or New orleans open up.

I would think Kyle shanahan to Cincy would make a lot of sense. Dalton holds a lot of similarities to Matt Ryan, and I am sure would see the offensive weapons as very interesting to work with.

I am beginning to think there isn't going to be a great situation this summer for mcdaniels. On paper, LA makes some sense, but it's a capped out team with a lack of offensive weapons and a rattled qb in place for at least 2 years. I am just not sure I see the appeal for someone wanting to make sure he gets this choice right.

I am still watching to see if Tennessee or Detroit make surprising changes, cause they (Tennessee first) would be ideal for a coach planning for the long haul.

I voted Bears. I think the NFC North is a sneaky bad division & could be dominated by a well-run organization over the medium-long term.

Put another way, I think Green Bay's talent acquisition has been pretty below average for a number of years, and they're propped up by Aaron Rodgers' seeming ability to stop making mistakes mid-season and get hot after Thanksgiving (only to lose a game at home in the playoffs). Rodgers just turned 33 - he could be good for a number of years, though you obviously have to wonder how long his game will remain Great.

The Rams gave up last year's 1st, plus this year's 1st and 3rd for Goff so unless they kill the draft, they're not going to get a ton of help from that this season. Trumaine Johnson, their best corner, is a free agent and definitely getting away from this **** show. Plus there's an owner more interested in selling seats than building a winning organization...I'd stay away.

Jacksonville is probably the best destination. Good group of young talent, all of their draft picks, a ton of cap room (estimated $67M), most of their big money deals for bad free agents were set to put the upfront money in the first 2 years so they're either falling off the cap or done next season, a weak division, an apathetic fanbase with low expectations and a media that won't harass him constantly, and Florida is nice for families. Lots of Disney trips for the kids. Okay, that last bit probably doesn't matter. But you never know.

If the Lewis rumours are true, the Bengals are probably top of the list. A ton of talent to work with, AJ Green/Eifert/Bernard on offense with a capable QB in Dalton. The owner is a ****-up and super cheap, but that works to the benefit of the coach too as he doesn't want to fire him early and pay him to not coach. Marvin Lewis had a long run and people credited Brown with being patient; no, he's just cheap.

It all depends on what McDaniels thinks of Goff and Bortles, doesn't it? Outside of those teams:

Buffalo - He'd be a fool to go there. He'd have to deal with the GM, the owners, and a (probably) pissed off BB
Chargers - Moving team, lousy owners, aging QB with an unpleasant contract, more injuries than you'd expect at a torturing convention
Chicago - Interesting choice, if he can bring JAG along, and if he gets contractual assurances that he's safe for at least 3 seasons.
Well everyone gets the "contractual assurances". Rex got a 5 year deal. so he'll get paid. The problem lies in how many years you actually get to coach. Contractually they all get 4+ year deals

Chicago is the best job, but the more I think on it, the more I think Fox is going to keep the job. They finished relatively strong, given their situation. It STILL is the best spot for JG, imho

Buffalo might actually be a good gig. Their roster is deceptively loaded with talent. Could be a QB away from being good, now that Rex is out of the picture.
Imo, there is ZERO chance Josh stays in AFCEast. Last team he wants to play twice a year is the pats.

I like Jax. That is a place I think the talent is at least partially there and they are underperforming to the level of talent.

Fox believes entire staff coming back to Bears.
That puts the most attractive job off the market.
If Fox stays in Chicago
Lewis in Cinci
Jackson in Cleveland
Murlarkey in Tenn
That puts the best jobs as LA but who knows what Josh thinks of Goff.
Jacksonville is the best spot in my opinion but that could have coughlin all over it.

GB would be top of the list by a mile if they got rid of McCarthy: Passionate fan base, history, elite QB. Likely not happening nowith though.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think its Cleveland...

They have no bloated contracts or grossly overpaid aging players.
They have $60 million in cap space for next year.
They have a LT and a good CB.
They already have McCown who is a decent QB.
They have decent talent in Burbridge, Irving, Shleton.

Dump RG3, he is just too small to play QB in the NFL.

They have roughly picks 1, 10, 33, 48, 96, 128, 149, 150, 151, 183, 211, 212

Plus an extra 2nd, 4th, and 6th round picks next year.

No QB coming out this year is worth picks 1 or 10 or even 33. Trubisky is a Ohio kid, if he is still around at 33, that might be an option. You can always draft 3 impact players and let McCown play QB next year. I would take Garrett form Texas A&M with #1, or trade down a little and take Allen from Bama, then grab Fournette at #10 and you still have pick #33 (which, depending on who is still on the board) someone will always to willing to trade for, Plus another second round pick.

In Cleveland all you have to do is NOT SUCK, and you are a genius! If you go 8-8, you are a God!

Why? They are a pretty crappy team and have been for awhile.
That fan base would be deleriously happy (and watching a home playoff game) if the Jags were just a little bit better than the Titans, Colts, and Texans. There is no lower bar to success.

That changes quickly. Look around at the divisions. Within 3 years the strong look weak and the weak look strong.

Houston is building a program and if savage is the answer they could become a strong team. They have won the last 2 years with awful QB play. Indy needs a new GM and coach. Tennessee looks like they could be a good team going forward.

I don't think McDaniels idea of success is squeaking past bad teams in a bad division though.

Depends how much he wants to be tbe main man

Buffalo and the Rats have bad owners, so regardless of BB's or McDaniels' feelings, those are coach killer organizations.

Of course, with the Rats, Goodell has their back.

More and more it looks like the Rams, Jags, and Bills could be the ONLY teams with vacancies this year, with MAYBE SD in the mix. So if those are the 4 vacancies I'm starting to feel more confident that the "band will be back together" for next season.

The Bills are a non-starter, questionable ownership, roster, bad QB situation, bad GM who has the owner's ear, in the AFCE, etc. They will be lucky if they get the interrum HC to stay. Only the desperate need apply.

Jags - They are in the best shape roster wise. Bortles is the ultimate tease as a QB, just good enough to lose you games, but still only in his 3rd year, and has had some flashes, including a pretty good 2015 season. The owner seems solid. Only 7 home games and a trip to England each year. Coughlin is the early front runner. I don't know about the GM situation.

Rams - Prime location, capped out young team that has heavily mortgaged their future for a QB not good enough to be a back up yet. A hands off football operations owner. A bad GM you don't know well. A 3000 mi potential move. SD likely moving in. McDaniels might not be high profile enough. Does he want his life on TMZ every night.

SD - very good but very old QB - apparently a bad owner - you have to oversee a move to a new city. building a nice young D - Lots of injuries this season. Franchise in transition, not the best time to fire the HC, who hasn't done a bad job, under adverse conditions
