Bears talking to Pats about a second rounder?

Let me rephrase. He is a tremendous talent that I would love to have for a 4th rounder. 3rd at the most. He is a great pass catcher that doesn't block very well. I don't understand why you think he is worth a 2nd when he cannot block. Don't get enamored with fantasy production now.

His catches on the field count in the real world, too.

I'd love to see the trade 53 for olslenad a 1st or 2nd next year

So would I but there is less than no chance in Hell of that happening. How about their 1sts for the next three years. Olsen or Gronkowski and his back as one of our second rounders? Olsen only if they do plan on using the TE otherwise don't bother.

How would it be tremendous when there were rumors a few weeks ago coming out of Chicago that they were only looking for a fourth or fifth round pick for him? Plus when you factor in that it only took a 5th to get Holmes and a 2nd to get McNabb, the 4th/5th round value seems more likely than a 2nd round value. Now if it was a pick (3rd/4th this year or 2nd/3rd next year) and Olsen for a 2nd rounder, then it wouldn't be so bad.

Anyway, if a trade does happen, then I'd love to see them get the Bears 3rd rounder (75), 5th rounder (141), and their 2nd from next year for 53. That would give the Pats a pick in every round this year, allow them to keep four picks in the "sweet spot" of this year's draft, and give them a fourth pick in the first two rounds next year.

I agree a second is too much for Olsen, but you cant use Holmes as a value gauge because he was already suspeded and only has one year left on his contract, and was traded because he was going to be cut.

Offer them our 3rd and see if that will do it. If they say no, then move on.

Bears are desperate for draft choices, what TE in the 2nd or 3rd round would be better than Olson?

Noone,imao.........If he's available,I'll bet Mcdaniels will pull the trigger,if BB doesn't.

FWIW, I believe Jerry Angelo claimed they were "done" mortgaging the future for the present (OTOH, if the Bears go down in flames this year, Angelo will probably be out of a job).

That said, I'd consider Olson + their third for #53.

[And, BTW, Denver gave up their 2 in the trade to get Tebow.]

I recant. I typed quickly without thinking. In light of what other vet players have been fetching in draft value, I agree it is too much. I was more thinking in the context of if you plan on taking a TE in the second round, why not offer up a second rounder for a young, former first rounder who looks to be on the verge. If he can be had for a third or fourth even better.

that depends on how desperate they are for a second rounder they know he's not worth it so they gotta sweeten the deal some how and that be like trading a 4th or 5th (olsen) and a furture 1st or 2nd for a second those kind of deals happen all the time

A starter at a position of need as part of the value for a 2nd round pick? Sounds good to me, if they like the player.

That is a good point about Holmes. Most likely though Olsen's value would fall between the 3rd-5th rounds.

The most I'd go is Olsen and the Bears 3rd for one of our seconds...
