I think it's time to cool your jets on how good this draft was. If we are realistic, there were 2 or 3 better drafts the YEAR, if you want to be honest. It was a top 5 draft for sure, but "historic"... hardly.

If you want to compliment the FO do it for the FA class. Hard to bring in the number of FA's we did this summer and not have a bust or two. And we should know something about FA busts in recent years. But this class has been special. They might not have been all home runs, but all have been solid contributors who have earned their paychecks, even the guy who got the biggest one.

That's not to say the draft class was special. Perhaps my favorite stat of the regular season was the one that had us 4th in the number of rookie snaps, while the 3 teams that were ahead of us had about 8 wins BETWEEN them. BTW- I bet the rookie who has had the most snaps of them all this season was Craig Woodson (off the top of my head).
I said it was phenomenal in regards to the how many stater level players we drafted with potential to be more.
It's not normal or average for teams to get 5 or 6 starter level players from one draft class.

What part of literally starting out with '(sigh)' seemed to you like I was anything but relaxed?

The bashing part. I was merely taking a potshot at him.

Granted he's done a lot for this franchise, but he's made his share of astoundingly boneheaded mistakes. And the minute he doled out a twenty at the Orchid Spa was the minute he opened himself up to an eternity of ridicule and getting ragged on. He will not get to live that down.

It's really beyond just drafting and free agency prior to the draft. They've continued to upgrade the roster since. We see Durden, Munford, Chism, Ponder all seeing real time and making contributions (and I've got hopes for Larison for next year). It's been amazing. We still lack depth and another solid draft/offseason would really set the team up for longer term success. One or two high end acquisitions followed by a good draft coupled with a cheap player base and an elite inexpensive young QB and we won't have to get a little lucky with the schedule and with injuries as we have this year. Has anything actually gone wrong since Vrabel's group came in? It's like a mixture of a great staff, great skill, and a horseshoe up his ass.

Potshot = bashing
My (sigh) > your self justifying
Although I'll grant the use of gets you close. I cannot declare victory though, we haven't created anywhere near enough strawmen yet and not a single goalpost has been moved, Besides, declaring victory is Andy's job and I'm not pissin' in his rice bowl

The only reason 6 Super Bowl banners hang in Freaking No-Wheresville Rte 1 Foxboro and not St Louis or Vegas is because of that man.

If you want any semblance of credibility, you may want to start with that, kid.

.

I still think they need a 2010 or 2012 level draft. At minimum, get pro bowl players at a few different positions. Huge gamechangers. Hit it out of the park draft.

Having elite drafted talent means you need not overpay free agents and so forth.

3 is usually considered a great year

Great point. Considering you have 7 rookie contributors who will become better , think how this sets is up for next 3 years. 7 contributors on rookie scale and you might get maybe another 10 decent rookie level contributors across next 3 drafts . Sets us up really well for next 4-5 years and able to manage cap space when we need to pay gonzo and maye .

And we can just draft the best player available instead of filling in holes .

Only thing would be that Henry , diggs and hollins will be in wrong side of 30 for 2027 and 2026 might be the last season for all 3 I guess .

True.
We have positions that need attention beyond next year, and any GM worth their salt builds a roster beyond one year.
I would like to see some youth added to our TE group. Not a 6th round blocker, but a real receiving threat.
WR room has some nice youth (assuming Boutte stays), but we need another younger guy.
Moses isn't young.
That said, outside of OG, Edge and LB I don't think we have any glaring holes, so should be able to draft best available from those positions.
DL and TE are also on the radar should a guy slip we really like.

And remember how much moaning and groaning there was here at his selection because nearly all draft boards had him projected lower?
