Status
Not open for further replies.
Current:
80 Marcus Cannon (PUP)
79 Buddy Farnham (PS eligible)
78 Richard Medlin (PS eligible)
77 Jonathan Compas (PS eligible)
76 Ricky Brown
75 Darryl Richard (PS eligible)
74 Carson Butler (PS eligible)
73 Corey Woods (PS eligible)
72 Michael Berry (PS eligible)
71 Markell Carter (PS eligible)
70 Aaron Lavarias (PS eligible)
69 PUP Ron Brace (PUP)
68 PUP Brandon Deaderick (PUP)
67 Alex Silvestro (PS eligible)
66 Eric Moore
65 Tiquan Underwood
64 Landon Cohen
63 Eric Kettani (PS eligible)
62 Niko Koutouvides

18 cuts/pups so far. 9 more to get to 53.

I am not 100% sure but I think Marcus Cannon was placed on PUP to make way for Antwaun Molden on the 80.

I'm not sure. I haven't really seen him on the field so I was assuming he was physically unable somehow. I have heard little about his status.

He has played was just a non factor. If you practice at all you are not PUP eligible.

Why do we need to put Faulk on the PUP. Just cut him and resign him when we need him. We could need him in game 4.

The biggest differences between the two: (1) PUP earns him a salary starting next week whereas being cut doesn't; (2) PUP gives him access to the Patriots' medical/trainer staff.

If you think he'll be ready as of week 2, it might actually make sense, as you suggest, to cut him instead of PUPping him, but if he doesn't seem likely to be ready anyways, then it makes sense—from a "right thing to do" perspective—to PUP him.

Re: Announced cuts: countdown to 53

If you want to believe that Butler has really improved OK, but I have a suspicion that this topic will be around all season assuming he makes the team.
I don't thiink so. People use to argue about the relative merits of Wilhite and Butler, and that stopped after Wilhite was cut. If Butler makes the team, why would we argue whether or not he was good enough to make the team?

It seems pretty simple to me: If he is the fourth or fiftb best CB available (depending on whether we keep 4 or 5 CBs), he will make the team. If not, he won't.

We only have to wait a couple hours to find out, but I really think his making the team or not making it should be an indicator to everyone that he was good enough to make the team.

I believe he is injured right now so the IR is a possibility, but he practiced during TC so he's no PUP eligible.

I really hope James Ihedigbo doesn't make the team. If he's our #4 Safety and we have an injury it's not gonna be good. Guy has looked terrible on the field in the last 2 games.
I think if he is here, its for special teams
Meriwhether, Chung, Barrett, Brown would all be ahead of him and Dowling can play there.
We only need 2 in a game, and the 3rd might get a few snaps, because we are deep with corners for nickel and dime.
I don't think you have to worry about Ihedigbo playing signifiicant snaps at S.
There have been many 'safeties' who made the roster and never played on D

Yeah, he was. (Actually, to be precise, it was NFI, but that's a technical distinction, not an important one.)

I read somewhere that Lee Smith had a bad hand injury in the last game. I certainly hope so. Welcome to IR Mr Smith, we'll need you in the future.

In which case we lose him until game 6. Just bonus the lost money to him now. Why would he not have access to Patriot medical staff?

If you PUP him you maintain control. If you cut him, he could sign elsewhere. (If you cut him, he isn't getting a check like if he were PUPped). Also, PUPing him has him with the team, teaching the younger RBs.

For the same reason you couldn't use the company gym if you were fired. Because he was fired and wouldn't be on the team.

Just to be clear, I'm not precisely suggesting that "if he won't be ready by week 2, PUP him." I'm saying, "if you think he won't be ready before game 6, PUP him."

You put Faulk on PUP should someone be injured in the first 6-9 weeks, then he's available as a second half replacement.

Is Dearth a lock?

There is room to keep him. I did not cut Tate, Price, Slater or Edelman in my guess by putting him on PUP.

You could dump your choice of those and keep Faulk injured inactive and on the 53

Makes good sense to have him there in case he is needed, and he probably will be.

Gah, I surrender! My math was off when I missed kettani and I though maybe that was why, so I added him. The way Andy is tracking easier. Take over, man! I have a family BBQ to attend anyway.

I wasn't even sure he has practiced. Unless he is IR material, it'll be a coin toss then between him and Yeatman. Not enough information on Smith to really have an opinion.

I think he is today, but his job is subject to other ls getting cut and/or how he performs. Still on audition but its his job to lose.

I liked your way to see who was cut rather than trawling through seeing who was cut. I think smith may be IR'd with a hand injury.
