PostGame Thread 2026 OFFICIAL POSTGAME THREAD: Patriots Beat Eagles 24-21

Immediate Postgame Reactions
Boutte will likely be traded before the trade deadline, probably in the couple of days after the cut to 53.

We will continue to debate how much to accept for Boutte and how much value he adds to the 6 WR's listed above.

Why not trade Hollins? He very well might be playing his last season here himself; so what's the difference?

Hollins is a valuable part of our Offense and is one of our 3 starters. His performance and chemistry with Maye was excellent last year. Finally, I expect Hollins to sign a 1-year extension after season.

Now that we replaced Wallace/Rupcich with Van Roten, the backups should be much improved. If Rizy is the replacement for Brown for a few weeks, he may need to be on the 53.

Ritzy doesn't deserve to be on the 53 of the NY Jete, never mind on that of the AFC Champions. The FO needs to get this **** squared-away and sign another veteran IOL, one with a decent amount of Center experience this time.

It good to hear the Crownover was "OK". That is a major achievement for him. We should be OK with him as the #4 OT, at least until Bryant is back.

Don't know from where you heard that. I was watching him in particular all night long; and he was most certainly Not 'ok". Quite the opposite in fact. And depending on the severity of Bryant's injury, the geniuses upstairs might have to sign a vet OT to cover their asses for the next couple or so weeks as well as another inside guy...

Hollins has never been a big stat guy- but he was one of the first guys Vrabel signed last year - he was a first day signing in an attempt to shift the culture.
He is a ferocious blocked and can grab the skinny post. He will run a crosser into traffic. He came back 4 weeks after a lacerated spleen.

Vrabel just called a timeout in the last game just to chew out his team for being soft. He said he was going to play the guys who were going to fight; Hollins fights. I think the Patriots value Mack Hollins far more than the fans do.

Durden did not play either, he was really good last year. Williams, Barmore and Durden are all dominant at times. How many teams go deeper that that with good talent? DL will be a strength, not concerning to me at all. Edge and LB more a concern but again have not seen Dre'Mont Jones or Ponder on the field so we will see. It's the NFL, depth is a concern with every team.

Whatever you say, Eliot.

So was Booty's... And he's younger and still improving.

Obviously we need to see him in real games, but I am starting to wonder about Prunty as Carlton Davis' long-term replacement, or at least someone who could compete for that job. He's been 'lock-down' through 2 pre-season games, he has the requisite size and very good NFL athleticism. This year's Craig Woodson?

Gonzo watch out.

Reason one seems to be that he started games before Doubs and Brown were acquired (?) Or you mean he's a starter during pre-season? Reason two was that he amassed 550 yards and 2 TDs with 12 yards per catch in 2025, i.e., his performance. I don't care about anybody's chemistry unless it's measurable. If you tell me he has an even higher catch per attempt than the overall 70% or so Drake rate, I'll listen. Otherwise, everybody has chemistry with Drake Maye, from the looks of things.

Then finally you expect him to sign a deal after the season -- I guess that's not a reason to keep him, just an explanation of what happens after the present deal ends.

Don't get me wrong. He's a good piece of the offense. But he had a lower catch per attempt than Boutte in 25, almost exactly the same yards, and way lower TDs and yards per catch... and Boutte's had the ridiculous camp. I'm a Hollins fan, but the team upgraded. The new 2026 1 and 2 guys, by 2025 numbers, are Brown and Doubs. Everybody else is fighting for at least 1 fewer chair than bodies and the music's about to stop.

I like Pop because of his slotness. He's proven the ability to get it done from that position, and guys like Boutte and, yes, Hollins, are almost pure outside guys. I like Williams and Chism because of what they might be. The question is, with all this depth, do you reserve more positions for what might be, and leave out quality depth guys like Douglas or Hollins?

Here's where it gets paradoxical. We have blue-chip mid guys (Boutte, Pops, Hollins.) You know what you've got there. We have incoming upgrades in Doubs and Brown. Then we have interesting guys for the future that you'd have to be crazy to keep over the guys you can trust to contribute (Williams, Chism).

Right now, of these guys, we only seem to be playing Williams and Chism. I think of them having spots to defend, unless somebody's play, or somebody's trade offer, excels. Could happen to any of them.

Chism is much more consistent than K. Williams.

Wiliams hasn’t shown any ability as a WR except his release on a go ball but the guy can’t run a route to save his life.
Chism and Williams are different wrs. Chism has nfl quickness, but is way too slow. If Williams can put it all together he would be very dangerous.

I didn’t say they were important to Maye, Brown, Doubs, or any other starters. Nor did I say it was important to me to see Maye, Brown, Boubs, or any other starters in the preseason games.

In fact what I said was that it’s important to see the non-starters in game action, and that’s part of the value of the preseason. So you’re arguing a non-existent point.

I didn’t say how high the value is, just said preseason games have enough value to keep them. You were discounting the value, now you’re saying they have some value. So how about leaving them alone, and just keeping them.

They could get the back ups the same experience in a scrimmage on the practice field. And let's face it. A lot or most of the players who played in the second half of Saturday's game won't even make the roster in two weeks.

Easy fix. Take preseason games out of the season ticket package and sell them all as general admission.

What? You don’t think the season ticket prices will be reduced if they do that? Do you really think they’ll go down if preseason games are eliminated?

If that’s what you’re *****ing about just let it go and let those of us who enjoy preseason games enjoy them in peace without your *****ing, please.

This would never happen. And if they made the game general admission, it wouldn't happen unless they made the money back in concessions and television broadcasts which I am not sure they would.

But I made one post about it and since then I have only been responding to you and one other person. You are the one keeping the "*****ing" going. I love when someone constantly responds to someone and then complains that that person won't shut up about the topic that they are constantly responding to keep the discussion going. I posted one post and if no one responded to me, I wouldn't have said another word.
