Chicago surrounded Caleb Williams with some very good skill position Players. At WR alone he has D.J. Moore and Kennan Allen and Rookie Rome Odunze. Plus they have an excellent TE in Cole Kmet. That said the timing between him and Moore is off and they had all TC to figure it out. I would love for us to have D.J. Moore in a Trade if he wants out.
It is amazing how Williams and Moore's timing is off when Gonzo is covering Moore.

What I'm asking though is, what if he never stepped out of bounds on replay? That's reviewable. The entire play is reviewable.
But he did. Twice

Not factual. The Browns had one of the greatest LTs to ever play the game and they did nothing and routinely had one of the worst offenses.

It's takes both having an oline good enough to open running lanes and give the QB time to throw without pressure. And skilled enough RBs to run through the lanes and receivers capable of getting open.

It's not rocket science, you need good players across the entire roster to compete. If you have a HOF QB you can overcome some roster deficiencies like the Chiefs winning with terrible OTs.

For all the hate Wolf got for not Signing T Smith, the Jets offense has been terrible and are tied with the Pats at 3 wins.
Kelce is also one of the best receiving tight ends of all time. The same way Brady won superbowls with Gronk as his #1, Mahomes is doing with Kelce.

I don't agree. There have been plenty of instances elsewhere (You saw the state of the Bear's team yesterday, did you not?) where players bailed on the coach and on the team. Why assume those players did not also want to extend their careers? They presumably felt their interests were ill-served by a lousy team or by incompetent coaching. The Pats players have clearly drawn no such adverse conclusion about their coaches or teammates, based on their continued efforts under that leadership.

Frankly, I might give Maye as much credit as Mayo for this resilience, but that is another matter.
If Maye showed quit in his first year then he lacks character to be a leader. I’ve seen no indication of that in college or the pros. I feel he will be a really good one if he can reach that high ceiling of his.

Hats of to Mayo! He did learn from Belichick. I call it Maye's JAGS. He has sat players with healthy scratches. I think he's letting Maye pick the receivers who start by performing on the field. That's Great. Pop, boutte, hooper,Henry and a throw away in Polk. Keep these guys on the field with Rhamondre. They deserve playing time with NO DROPS! Let's go.....

I agree completely. but the roster is a sick joke, and team leadership is questionable. If the team doesn't adequately address these problems, I would not blame him for getting out when he can. The way things are going, really high-end players are going to have a lot of autonomy by the time his rookie contract is up. Such players will choose where they want to play, and no top player would want to play for an extended period for such bottom-feeder teams as we are at present.

A sad reminder that draft position does not guarantee success. The Pats should try to win as many games as possible the rest of the year. At this point building momentum for next year is more important than getting the highest pick.
Learning how to win is much more valuable than learning how to lose.

QB Drake Maye (64; 100%), LT Vederian Lowe (64; 100%), LG Michael Jordan (64; 100%), C Ben Brown (64; 100%), RG Michael Onwenu (64; 100%), RT Demontrey Jacobs (64; 100%), WR Kayshon Boutte (62; 97%), TE Hunter Henry (57; 89%), RB Rhamondre Stevenson (45; 70%), TE Austin Hooper (41, 64%), WR K.J. Osborn (29; 45%), WR DeMario Douglas (27; 42%), WR Ja’Lynn Polk (26; 41%), RB JaMycal Hasty (12; 19%), RB Antonio Gibson (7; 11%), OL/TE/FB Sidy Sow (6; 9%), WR Javon Baker (4; 6%), TE Jaheim Bell (2; 3%), TE Mitchell Wilcox (1; 2%), OL/TE Layden Robinson (1; 2%)

Again another reason why I can't stand AVP why is K.J. Osborn getting more snaps than Pop Douglas?? That should never happen under the sun: He has so much to show for those 29 snaps. Even Bourne who was Benched had more of an Impact than Osborn.

Tape Review
Finished review of the all-22. I had started looking at offense only to figure out if they could get some semblance of offense and find out who are keepers and who needs to go. Halfway thru the year not much changes game to game so changing it up a bit. Looking at offense and defense and instead of going into details on several plays going to highlight the positives and negatives,

Offense
Offensive Line
-Despite improved pressure numbers I thought the line was not great in pass protection. 1 actual sack for zero yards is good but Maye makes the line so much better, between getting ball out quick and mobility he saves multiple sacks a game. Maye's Pressure to Sack ratio was at 15.8% for the game and now at the magic 20% number for the year. Under 20 good, over 20 bad. This is one area I want to see him improve and he is. If he can get that down to 10-12% that'd be great. Doubt it happens with so many quick beats on the line, but next year!
-Lowe regressed a bit, probably his worst game in pass pro.
-The line had good push in the run game, Sidy Sow was really good as the extra lineman on running plays.
-Overall, an above average game run blocking and a below average, for an NFL team, pass blocking. There pressure % was at a low for the year but is still higher than an average NFL team.
-Hooper struggles a bit in run blocking as a TE but he's what you got as the second TE and he is a solid 2nd TE overall
Receivers
-KJ Osborne was OK, Baker should get all of his snaps. Just makes no sense they were going to cut the guy, they were sitting Kendrick Bourne to play younger guys and then give KJ all these snaps over Baker.
-Boutte matched up against a very good corner and played well. Continues to solidify himself as this years #1 receiver and next year's #2(God willing!)
-DD is the same consistent self. Polk did not stand out in anyway, didn't see any great improvement, struggled in run blocking a bit
Drake Maye
-Yeah, bad interception and 2 deep balls underthrown but thrown on the move into the wind. Had some ridiculous Big Time Throws. PFF has him second on the year to Josh Allen (91.1 to 90.3) on running QB's grade. Interceptions bring down his passing grade, otherwise some of the advanced stats are closer to Allen than you would think. He's also played some of the top passing defenses in terms of yards allowed per play. I'll link some of the throws from Twitter accounts of Lazar, Kyles etc. at the end. The guy is really good for a 22 year old considering talent around him.
Offense Summary
Downs: Lowe, Pass Protection, Osborn, Polk, Maye's lack of sliding
UP: Boutte, Run Blocking, Maye's pocket movement and running
Took advantage of a weak run defense, Maye made some plays.

Defense
First time this year reviewing the defense in All-22 so just listing who stood out, good and bad in this game
Positives
-Jeremiah Pharms-Where did he come from? Dominating at times, Barmore like on several plays, just played the best of anybody on the defense. Not sure how that happened but it did, interesting to see how he follows this up next game.
-Dell Pettus-Played great, what a find if this is indicative of his play level not sure why we needed to sign the 2 safeties in the off-season now. Like glue to receivers, seemed at the right place regularly. Great game
-Christian Gonzalez-Showed as a #1 corner, he can mirror receivers, always around the ball, keeps guys from being open regularly. STUD. But Pettus was better!
-Keion White-He's not unblockable one on one but he played well, was double teamed a bit early on but then when Pharms went off that kind of switched
-Anfernee Jennings-PFF had him lowly rated but I thought he was good in this game, right place most of the time, had good angles, showed good speed, could rush the passer
Davon Godchaux-Held up at the line, did what he is paid to do, thought he was pretty stout at the point of attack.
Negatives
Marco Wilson-Didn't show much in the snaps he got, regularly beaten, doesn't look ready for prime time, missed a run tackle when setting the edge.
Sione Takitaki-Thought he was bad, took bad routes to ball carriers, got pushed back on blocks too easily, just not good. Bentley sorely missed if this is the best they have
Daniel Ekuale-Seemed handled pretty easily by the Bear line, very underwhelmed with him

Other Notes
Marcus Jones-I almost put him in the negative column, seems to struggle staying with his man when the make a quick break in or out but otherwise was able to stick with his man, seems like teams could game plan some routes he would struggle to cover.
Caleb Williams-He had line issues, but he caused some of that with slow processing, there were plays to be had but he seems to lack anticipatory throws and trust in his arm or just bad processing. But then he makes a play or 2 where you are like, OK, there it is. Needs to learn to process and throw, never done it, not sure he'll ever learn, thus the high bust potential as mentioned before the draft.
-A Tee Higgins or a TMac might have caught both the deep balls, having a top jump ball receiver would be amazing!

Overall good enough on offense and a defense that played well and was helped by the Chicago offense. Definitely the weakest offense they will play the rest of this year.

Drake Maye Highlighted Plays: Some of these are so high level NFL QB plays it is how you know he's a future Top 5 QB. Enjoy!

Josh Allen kills teams rolling out to his right. Maye looks like he’s well on his way to being the same when he rolls right.

The league needs to do a better job of protecting the QB from getting head shots when sliding. Too often they treat it as unavoidable. Not buying it.\.

QBs - especially a certain one - get protected WAY too much already.

Wanna better-protect QBs? Tell them to hand-off the dam ball more often; otherwise...

It wasn’t brown for hooper it was gesicki for hooper

It was maybe both.

At his peak, Hooper combined some of the Pharaoh's blocking skills with Gesicki's catching skills.

TE isn't the biggest problem here; nor did I think it was last year either.

Too bad our WR's are not shaking loose on those.
