2022 Mock Drafts

Wow! Spectacular draft. 6 sure fire contributors if they stay healthy.
Maybe I was taken in with all the combine hype but I thought there was some decent player depth in nearly all of the positions , all we have to do is select some of them....

Holy moly, I can not imagine pulling off a better draft than this.

Drafting Williams is a shot at a top 10 talent we hopefully won't be in the range of selecting any time soon. IMO, the risk vs reward is worth it.
Davis is a rare prototypical NT that is perfect for BB's defense. If he falls to the end half of the first, personally I believe it's worth the expense to trade up, even at the cost of next year's first. I've been dwelling and debating the concept of trading next year's high picks (1st &2nd) to move back into the first if a player of value and a strong match were available. IMO, a lot of people in the mock world are underestimating the need for QB's across the league. I think it will create a run on them in the first round in our range, pushing some unexpected (as of RN) talent back in the second half of the first round. I think it would be a great way to maximize Mac's rookie contract.

Most people agree, that 2022 is probably a building year. I'd rather take advantage of taking a "perfect fit" patriots player like Davis, and have them get their rookie season out of the way in 22, over waiting to hopefully draft a comparable player in 2023, and have them go through their rookie season in Mac's prime period of his rookie contract. The same concept applies to Williams. This is all based on the team resigning Jackson and hopefully finding a trade partner for Nelson, Harry, or both. If the draft played out like this, id be willing to give a team a 2023 6th or 7th and Agholor to unload his contract. Agholor would free up 10 mil. At the same time, maybe he's a bridge player while Williams gets healthy and picks up the playbook. If Araiza wins out the starting job for P, that's another 4 mil we could use elsewhere or carry over to 2023.

Hmmm, if Jordan Davis is available at 21, you gotta take him and then pick up a WR or (gulp) CB in round 2. A big, run-stopping NT is a big need for the Patriots and Davis is a monster....a monster that can move and a monster with a huge wingspan (biggest wingspan I have ever seen). DT is one of those areas (unlike WR or CB) where the Patriots can be trusted to make the right choice.

Devin Lloyd is now favourite for our round 1 pick according to nflmockdraftdatabase
I watched some highlights of Devin Lloyd, and he can really play. However he seems more like a cover LB rather than a run stuffer; his frame is a too light to stand up against the run. He is almost a glorified safety, but he is really good and has incredible hands for a linebacker.

moore is really talented, mediots seem to knock him for only being 5’9”, but I see a guy that is always open and too quick for man corners to cover.

I love the quick smurfs, but I would consider taking Calvin Austin III before Skyy Moore. Austin would drive CBs insane; he cannot be covered. Moore is good also, but maybe not as shifty.

Of course, Belichick seems so far unmoved by this argument. He's only traded away a future pick to move up in the draft once, and that was a day 3 pick to move up for Dalton Keene.

I'm not quite sure why Belichick is so willing to trade away future picks for players from the Island of Misfit Toys, but so unwilling to do so in the draft.

Williams and Davis................... Yeah

He’s never traded more than a 5th rounder for one of those types of guys though. The trades we’re talking about all involve a 1st or 2nd from the next year. I assume this means he views the 5th-7th rounds as lottery tickets that he’s willing to cash in for JAG level play (versus risk of drafting a player who turns out to not even be NFL worthy), but he puts real value on the higher round picks who are more likely to pan out while being on cheap deals.

The grades seem a little harsh....
christian watson in the third round a D+ lmao
it seems like they don't know how good watson was and our need of a WR

The grades seem a little harsh....

Not really. Two down defensive tackles in the first round is hard to justify.

Small school guys have a lot of catching up to do.

I think the grade is fair. But I really like the bell pick.

First round……………Jameson Williams, WR
Second round………..Travis Jones, NT
Third round……………Cam Taylor-Britt, CB
Fourth round………….Skyy Moore, WR
Sixth round……………Troy Andersen, LB
Sixth round……………Best available OL…Cam Jurgens?

There are maybe few of us on the forum but if Williams is there at 21 then I would take him. I would also follow up with CB/DL with next two picks. After that it could be OT depending on who is staying with us (or a FA pick up) then LB. Dont know how LB will pan out as we have a few on the team already but have not played much due to injury or out of favour.

That looks like a good draft for the Patriots, but of course they are very hard to predict. One thing I know for sure is that they hate having a deficient number of picks (as they do this year), so expect a trade back if they can engineer one or two of them. I could definitely see a trade back in the first or second round since the WR crop is so deep.

Jameson has got be one the big mysteries of the draft. What do you do if he is available at 21? Tough question especially considering that the Patriots have so many holes to fill, and it sure would be tempting to trade back in round 1.

I would really like Williamson even with him recovering from an ACL , but......if there is nobody there worth taking then trading down is probably the way to go...

There's a better chance of Nike traveling to Russia and retrieving the ring Putin stole than the JEST making that trade.

Kudos in thinking outside the box, though.
