Holy moly, I can not imagine pulling off a better draft than this.
Drafting Williams is a shot at a top 10 talent we hopefully won't be in the range of selecting any time soon. IMO, the risk vs reward is worth it.
Davis is a rare prototypical NT that is perfect for BB's defense. If he falls to the end half of the first, personally I believe it's worth the expense to trade up, even at the cost of next year's first. I've been dwelling and debating the concept of trading next year's high picks (1st &2nd) to move back into the first if a player of value and a strong match were available. IMO, a lot of people in the mock world are underestimating the need for QB's across the league. I think it will create a run on them in the first round in our range, pushing some unexpected (as of RN) talent back in the second half of the first round. I think it would be a great way to maximize Mac's rookie contract.
Most people agree, that 2022 is probably a building year. I'd rather take advantage of taking a "perfect fit" patriots player like Davis, and have them get their rookie season out of the way in 22, over waiting to hopefully draft a comparable player in 2023, and have them go through their rookie season in Mac's prime period of his rookie contract. The same concept applies to Williams. This is all based on the team resigning Jackson and hopefully finding a trade partner for Nelson, Harry, or both. If the draft played out like this, id be willing to give a team a 2023 6th or 7th and Agholor to unload his contract. Agholor would free up 10 mil. At the same time, maybe he's a bridge player while Williams gets healthy and picks up the playbook. If Araiza wins out the starting job for P, that's another 4 mil we could use elsewhere or carry over to 2023.
