not sure saleh is anything better than Rex, Bowles or gase.

but lafluer, he could be a positive difference maker for the Jets.

Hopefully for Sam in particular.

Not true at all, they can stay where they are and hopefully will -- mired in abject suckage.
When it comes to the jete ruining careers also applies to coachs too, Saleh can kiss his goodbye.

The jets organization has a very miasmic atmosphere, however once someone is out of that building, that person magically become hirable, heck, we have people on this board talking about gase as a future oc candidate!

I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it in any other pro football organization or any other sport.

Nice adjective.

Not to be confused with:

Irish guy - " Hey Tony what's that smell? "

" Oh, that's My Ass Mick"

Terrible hire, this guy will be in over his head from day one. I breathed a sigh of relief the Jete didn't snag someone with a proven track record. His being Muslim is completely irrelevant to "PR" and everything else.
Agree totally on all of this.

This is a typical Jetsy move. Saleh is very media savvy and media friendly and gives off good vibes and the Jets ownership, fan base and mediots have all taken a shine to him but apparently they have not looked very much at the game tape. SF defense was good because they invested heavily on talent on that side of the ball. It's a very basic defense that needs highly talented players to be able to make 1:1 plays. Saleh coached under Pete Carroll then under Gus Bradley so he will have yet another Carroll-style read-react scheme. Saleh will be asking Douglas for talented defensive players that can play in the Seattle scheme so his coaching career gets off to a good start, which means their very un-talented offensive line and skill positions will be taking a back seat even more than it already has.

Meanwhile da Jete invested heavily in Darnit and didn't recruit a coach that has any track record of turning around QBs. The guy they are bringing in from SF along with Saleh also has nothing on game day tape that would impress you. Did Woody et al even watch any game tape before deciding who to hire, or did they just ask media people who to bring in?

Da Jete's biggest quandary is if a talented QB falls to them at #3. If one does, then they have to dump Darnit and pick the QB and start building talent on the offense, yet that means dumping the investment on Darnit and now having your defensive minded coach unhappy because his defense has no talent. If they keep Darnit and spend the picks on a defensive player or trade down, their fan base is gonna hang them by the short and curlies and this new staff will have their fate tied to fixing Darnit which is a really bad place to be.

I see them adding defensive talent and getting an average defense but no offense and finding themselves in the middle of the pack for a few seasons while the fans yet again get restless and demand someone get fired so Douglas gets his turn at being the fall guy then a few years later Saleh will become the next victim.

Agreed, it takes years to remove the jest stench from ones self, if ever.

This clip reminded me of the movie "Dumb and Dumber":

It's now an annual tradition, wait to see when the Jete cut or trade their former first rounder.

And in the trade thread we have another tradition, JeteFan6969 telling us how the Jete made a great deal when dumping their former draft binkie, without noticing the three or four years wasted developing that player nor accepting that a draft pick next year isn't the same as a player this year.

It goes back further as well.

2010: Kyle Wilson - one year starter, not re-signed, out of the NFL a year later.
2009: Mark Sanchez - as a side note, the Jets traded away their 2nd and three players to move up for the Butt Fumbler.
2008: Vernon Gholston - cut after three seasons (five starts).
2005: traded away their 1st for Doug Jolley (who was traded a year later for a 6th) and a 2nd (used on a kicker who did not re-sign).
2004: Jonathan Vilma, who was good - but did not re-sign.
2003: DeWayne Robertson at #4 overall - did not re-sign, out of NFL a year later.
2001: Santana Moss - traded to Wash, became a Pro Bowler 1st year there.
1998, 1999 - traded away
1997: traded #6 away (Walter Jones). Received a #8, James Farrior, who the Jete played in just 3 games; he went on to play seven seasons w/Pittsburgh, winning two rings and is the Steelers HoF.
1996: Keyshawn Johnson, #1 overall - traded
1992: Johnny Mitchell - walked as free agent after 4 seasons; played in just 4 more NFL games after that.
1991: no #1 after taking WR Rob Moore in supplemental draft; his best years came after leaving NYJ for Arizona.
1991: top pick (2nd round) was QB Browning Nagle, who lasted 3 seasons (3-10).
1990: Blair Thomas #2 overall; 5 TD in 4 seasons, left as a free agent.
1989: FB Roger Vick - 317 yards in 3 seasons - traded for a 6th round pick.
1986: G Mike Haight - 3 year starter.
1984: traded starting QB Richard Todd for a #15 pick (DL Ron Faurot) - cut after two seasons.
1982: LB Bob Crable - 3 year starter
1980: WR Johnny 'Lam' Jones, #2 overall - only one season with more than 500 yards or 3 TD; almost as many fumbles as TDs.

To be fair there were some good picks (D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Jonathan Vilma, Al Toon, Ken O'Brien) and one Hall of Famer (Darrelle Revis), but overall it is an underwhlming Jet-itude of suckiness.

Thanks for putting in the dirty work....wait; the Jets already took care of that.

Would be interesting to do a similar 'dump' of GM and coaching changes.

Kinda makes me realize that dumping Darnold is a typical Jetsy move: get rid of the last regime's QB, which gives the new regime a good two year window to bring in the new guy, and even if he sucks they at least get into the second year to try to make it work.

Given the overall poor talent on the team especially on the offense chances are it will be a sh*t show this season at least, and who knows what that does to the rookie QB's psyche going forward.

They have a crap-ton of draft picks, but it's hard to see how that can change their fortunes unless they draft and coach well, and this being da Jete, I'm OK with assuming they will f*ck things up.

Saleh is a defensive coach from the Pete Carrol rah-rah school, it's hard to see everything coming together for quite a while, and easy to see the next reboot in two or three years, IMO.

Thanks for putting in the dirty work....wait; the Jets already took care of that.
Yeah, just like when the toilet plugs up, someone's gotta do the dirty work...
