A lot of guys who you think would excel at returning punts struggle with securing the ball at a standstill knowing that a bunch of 250 pound guys are bearing down on them and about a second away from crushing them. It's kind of a unique skill in its own right that doesn't necessarily translate as readily as kick returning does.
I dunno about Patterson specifically, but I assume that's likely the reason why because if he could handle that I assume he'd be returning punts alrady.
Understanding that preseason isn’t game planned and that things are worked on, like how most preseasons we have a game where we work on blitz packages and get pressure but get burned when we don’t get there isn’t yapping it’s teaching you something.

No he can't. I'm not saying it isn't a good play. I'm just saying lets remember who he did it against. It is encouraging but I don't expect to see that much.
