Rivers is a bit smaller and played some standup OLB in college. It seems possible to me that he's being groomed for a somewhat different role than Wise is, and that it's taking more development time.

From everything I'm hearing hes mostly with the LB'S which is entirely new position for him. He played some in college but it's a whole new spot.

Also regarding Foster he played WR at ASU but it was clearly the wrong move. He's a duel threat.

Great news about Wise. If not for injuries he would have been a 3 rounder for me instead of 4th.

Very interested to see what we have in Wise.

During the draft, Wise's name was linked to the Pats on earlier picks before they finally DID draft him.

He has been looking very, very good.

Not saying he will be a gr8 player, but it is a truism that the gr8 players generally look the part early, rather than emerged in 2nd or 3rd year.

Last year it was Thuney who emerged early as a player, and was an obvious steal. I'd be thrilled if Wise can have a similarly successful rookie year.

Wise just needs to stay healthy. He had always been a beast, but he has suffered major injuries in college in 2012, 2014 and 2016. If he stays healthy, we found a gem.

Agreed. Players who flash early (flowers another example) tend to be greater than players who struggle early.

Right not I am just waiting for news on Thuney. I know he wasn't cart
ed off so I am not too worried but still.

I think rivers has been expected to only be a sub edge rusher this year.
Where they are using him in base packages or drills is probably more about assessment and honing his versatility.
Totally in character for BB to put him with LBs all year, use him as sub DE, then making him solely a de next year, after having spent a year developing the collateral skills.

Collateral skills are huge with BB.

Just given his body type and skillset he would be a great guy to hope makes it.
It would be great to have the next stud in defense be a guy who fits what wise could be. Gray versatility and vital roles.

If anyone can find a quote from Ron Borges, bad-mouthing the selection of Wise, I'll feel even better about the pick.

We were saying the same thing about Flowers in his rookie year until he missed the season and he turned out as advertised, and then some, from his rookie camp. I think Wise is playing very consistently thus far so there's definitely a case for optimism.

I bet he lights it up in preseason.
Or he's trying a crazy strategy to have the Pats trade him by purposely struggling in practice but that would be nuts.
My guess he's frustrated that Brady's 40 is the new 20 and is upset and rattled.

I like him where he is as a RB. He's been a binky of mine for a while. Clearly his hands a good enough to be a WR, but although its been a while, in preseason games, he showed he had more accelleration and running skills than White.

But given the situation with BOTH Burkhead and Gillislee having receiving skills as well, AND Lewis and White ahead of him, I can't see a scenario where he makes the roster. I'm afraid he is going to be one of those guys who is going to wind up on another team's roster come September.....and good for him. Just no room at the inn.

You might be right about him going to another roster but he made it onto our practice squad last year. After this deep draft, I think he spends another year on there.

He stayed last year, they paid him as a roster player and he got a ring. I think he stays and they do the same again. Basically red shirting.

Doubt that: San Diego "Danny Woodhead" the Giants "ShaneVereen'" have raided us for our Third Down Receiving Backs in past I expect no different this year and they can get Foster for nothing. Unlike last year I think this year we can absorb his loss. How he performs in the Preseason Games could make it really tough though.
